rumours, fog of war, so take it with a grain of salt, but one of the downed aircraft is India's new overpriced French Rafale

[-] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 26 points 1 day ago

I doubt that it's one of the top end models. france-india only inked that weapons supply deal with the rafale-Ms a week ago. I don't think they had Ms from previous deals but idk, I don't have that fighter jet neurodivergence.

I think India already had 30 operational Rafales before the new deal.

Video on twitter showing wreckage of missile pylon and French MICA missile and huge flames behind (jet wreckage burning?), filmed by locals speaking. This might be proof of Rafale being shot down.

If France's top of the line jet got shot down by Chinese missile, it's a huge PR win for China's aerospace industry lol

A couple Indian and Pakistani planes were shot down in 2019 as well.
TBH this would be a pretty big incident between most countries but it seems to happen every couple years with India and Pakistan. There have been about half a dozen incidents of this scale (and one war) since Pakistan got nukes in 1998.
Edit: They're saying its five planes now. This is a pretty big deal

Whoops sorry wrong thread but yeah not a good sign. I hope cooler heads like China or Russia can step in and mediate this.

Yea same, Pakistan Vs India is obviously heavily tilted in favor of India but if China joins in to back up Pakistan and Russian backs up India hopefully it will be more even footing for both of them to ensure a fairer war
