DID YOU KNOW there’s a very, very hidden & affordable mixed rice shop inside Fahrenheit 88 at Bukit Bintang? I mean, it’s really, really hidden:

(My first time knowing about this place also. I know Wisma Cosway only)

Pro tip when in KL: if you’re around high end areas where a simple lunch can cost you at least RM30++ per person, there is ALWAYS a secret canteen somewhere where the local staff eat. Just ask the office workers…

[-] weecious 3 points 1 year ago

Sometimes office workers also don't know. Ask the blue collar workers.

[-] rakyat 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, that cheap pasta place inside wisma central was full of blue collar workers when I went there. Got office workers also la.

[-] dcx 2 points 1 year ago

Wow, I've passed that door so many times without knowing! So much cooler than a speakeasy lol

[-] rakyat 1 points 1 year ago

Actually it’s not that hidden also la considering my office area’s food court also hidden inside some car park

[-] dukeGR4 1 points 1 year ago

has it always been there? i had a look at the video and recognised that ICLS place and i went there for a language exchange event i think in 2018 in the evening. I don't recall the seeing a shop that resembles that mixed rice shop at all from memory.

I’ve no idea, this is the first time I know got this place haha

[-] yong1996 1 points 1 year ago

Not really hidden, if u work nearby definitely will know but they only open for lunch

[-] rakyat 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah every office area in Malaysia got places like that. I don’t work in Bukit Bintang but used to work around Jalan Raja Chulan, so we occasionally took GoKL to wisma cosway for lunch.

gosh, i hate my social media. lots of people getting married and getting pregenante.

and you know what's worse than those two events?

WHEN THEY DO THROW BACK. They need to remind you every single day that they're married. and if they pregnante they post a photo every week showing baby bump.

MADAM WONG YOUR MARRIAGE RECEPTION ENDED 3 MONTHS AGO HOW CAN YOU STILL POST A DOZEN THROWBACKS EVERY SECOND OR THIRD DAY, NOT SIENZ MEH?! PAK YOU

[-] penangkia 4 points 1 year ago

Hahaha I have a relative like that. Share every single detail of her pregnancy. Down to the gory details. Then when have kid share 60+ photos of kid every day. I dont where they got energy

So, somebody lectured me for not putting a CW on Mastodon when I shared food photos for #MakanApaToday yesterday. I got super annoyed and was snarky. The guilt tripping didn't stop as a number of people came and said, "can't you be more understanding?" You know what, I am over being understanding when Mastodon has powerful filter and blocking capabilities. I do that for Us politics which I found so annoying on Mastodon 🤣 I don't go lecturing people to put up CW for their posts. Also, I feel that this is a little hashtag space where we SEA have fun, and to have these people tell us to hide it just got me furious. I did start thinking, "Maybe I should stop posting on Mastodon and post here instead..." and that got me annoyed too. Why should I stop just because 1 or 2 people didn't like the images of food??

Just this morning someone slipped into the comments to passively aggressive suggest that maybe my mention of calories in the post was triggering - and I got fed up. I told her we shouldn't be told to hide something the SEA community loves, especially if it is harmless to most people.

Seriously never in my life did I think about food being something we should hide 🤪 folks have explained it to me why, including photos with eyes being triggering, and I thought - this is one thing I dislike about Mastodon. There's a reaallllly entitled community that demands you do things their way or they guilt you into thinking you are baaaad.

What do you guys think? I really like the #MakanApaToday thread and don't think it should be CWed cos hinestly, it is harmless and fun!!

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 3 points 1 year ago

You have to understand, when Twitter getting bought by Elon, there's a mass exodus going from twitter to mastodon, so you're basically interact with the similar twitter folks, and twitter folks do be like that.

Next time just block that one or two people and soon enough you won't get bugged by those funless neckbeard.

[-] penangkia 2 points 1 year ago

They keep coming. 😂 I don't even follow them. Some do, and I mute them.i even advice them to unfollow and block me. I suspect the only way they can find our post is to literally follow our hashtag - that's a special kind of crazy. If you find it so offensive blockla, why harass people on the hashtag??

[-] rakyat 2 points 1 year ago

It’s not just Twitter though. On Facebook or TikTok, there will be same types of ppl (though with different politics) who comment “tudung, mana tudung???”

[-] dukeGR4 1 points 1 year ago

isn't neckbeard more of a reddit stereotype? twitter for me they are very liberal, toxic kind that loves to cancel people.

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 1 points 1 year ago

Well, i take neckbeard the kind of person who have no social skill and with superiority complex :x

[-] dukeGR4 1 points 1 year ago

How else am I supposed to understand Rick and Morty if I don’t have high IQ? scratched neck beard

Content warning. Basically put the content behind an expander block, so you have to expand it to read it. People put CW on all kinds of things including photos with eyes 😅

[-] rakyat 1 points 1 year ago

Meanwhile in another part of the world, there’ll be ppl who ask women to “CW” whenever they dare to show any body part other than their eyes 👀

Same type of ppl really

[-] penangkia 1 points 1 year ago

👀 "You must behave exactly like I demand so that my life will be easier"

[-] esty@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

no, it really shouldn't be CWed

there's a line where it's not just things that are triggering for people but a part of daily life! food is life and culture and family and something people shouldn't have to cover up and hide!

some people are entitled and it's ridiculous

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 2 points 1 year ago

Right? The culture bridge building is always via food. These people are the special kind of weirdo

[-] penangkia 2 points 1 year ago

I don't understand why they can't just use the filter function 😅 so hardworking to nag people about this when a filter and block is all you need to do.

[-] dukeGR4 3 points 1 year ago

I drove the family CX-3 out just now, god the car behaves so funny there’s zero steering feel and a ton of slack. Idk if there’s anything wrong with it, even my old 2004 Vios had better feel.

When turning into a corner it will also torque steer when I apply throttle. It’s like something is dragging the steering. Wasn’t even driving fast just regular speed at like 2k rpm… It’s so serious the car will snap almost everytime I turn… i have driven a ton of FWDs from old to new nothing ever behaves like this.

Does it need alignment? I tried to test and the car was able to stay center when I release the steering.

Jaya Grocer cashier accidentally traded in my grab points for rm20 off my bill. Kinda annoyed because I liked accumulating the points.

[-] munkkey 2 points 1 year ago

Accidentally tapped the option to redeem? That's a lot of points.
