Just some Super Mario World here and there.
Working on Main and MG questlines in Oblivion Remastered. Then I'll do the SI expansion and "retire" my Hero of Kvatch-turned-Madgod (at least until Beth adds official mod support and people start making quest mods).
started Stray Gods recently, liking the story so far, the songs work well in between dialogue, I like visual novel type stuff and should play more in that genre (it's also why I play ESO, the massive amount of quests and character dialogue, all voiced), I was also around 20-30% into Star Trek Resurgence and stopped a while ago and really should restart that and finish it
Tangentially-related, I was thinking about actually getting into ESO (instead of just obsessively skimming the lore) now that I have a decent amount of disk space and have been in need of a TES fix since Oblivion Remastered. I even got the Roads to Power DLC for CK3 so I can play an adventurer in Elder Kings.
He's got his hooks into me yet again.
that’s sort of how I got there too, wanted to play more stories in that world after Skyrim, the quests in ESO are simpler than the single player games but the lore and vibes are there, also the overland/quest enemies are underpowered so at some point you would have to self-nerf a bit to keep it interesting, they are also unlocking access to all other classes’ skills soon so harder story content (dungeons) will be easier when playing solo
I'm also a Total War head and have played just about all of them for at least 100 hours. I usually play on something like Hard Campaign/Very Hard battles.
Tried playing Civilization 6 today and have only barely played some of 4 a decade ago. I feel like I'm really straining my brain with stuff like that and Paradox games. People bounce off Total War for sure, but at least stuff like "surround the enemy" and a lot of what goes on in battle is intuitive. Cities have significantly fewer resources or decisions to make.
I got owned by a flood during the first era that took out one of my fighters and builders and that let barbarians overwhelm me. It's so embarrassing how little game knowledge transfers with genres like this.
Civ6 is great, and this is a good time to get into it because it's now a more "finished" game with a lot of the weird early issues ironed out. But it definitely takes a lot of noodling around to figure out how all the gears mesh together - it's almost like you have to try out just a certain aspect of the game during each of your early play-throughs just to understand how certain mechanics work.
Keep at it. I believe you can do it
Trying to play the early game like Total War was not the way to go, I think.
I declared war on my first neighbor reasoning I could farm their units for XP and come out ahead. But with barbarians and other stuff going on, it just meant that I stopped them from doing anything, but also stopped myself.
I'm gonna try to be more defensive and focus on taking out barb scouts since I learned how they report the location of your city back home to their camp.
If I recall correctly, here are some vague tips for Civ 6 (I'm not great at the game, but I have won a few matches):
Conquest and warfare are legit tools but you need to know what you are doing. (Which you dont so you will probably fuck it up) Try to get a second city out very early, around turn 20 to 30, not later. You probably should get a 3rd and even more cities over time ( I usually go for 5-6 in my games throughout the game) Try to settle next to new ressources you dont control at the start of the game. Oh and settle next to rivers or next to the ocean.
It might take a few games to get the hang of it, but barbarians aren’t that hard to deal with. Try to stop barbarian scouts from reporting your position to their camps that helps a lot. Honestly, I’d just recommend fucking around and getting a feel for the game.
Rome with Trajan is a decent beginner CIV.
Even if you dont wage offensive wars you want a small military or the AI will declare war on you . Different civs have different weighted AIs I think so - some leaders will be more likley to be aggressive etc.
I would recommend making a beginner thread in the Hexbear gaming comm. Im sure there are CIV6 players that are much better than me that can give you advice.
I might have time to teach you the game if you are really interested send me a dm if thats the case
Warframe. I did it. I finally did it. I got every single warframe. Now, I can finally play the game.
By which I mean, start grinding out every OTHER thing!
Still playing Baldur's Gate 3.
Thinking about killing Lae'zel
You monster!
She's a space fash
The spoiler free version is she's... (and all of the new party members, really) complicated lol
Spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3
You can find documents that prove to her that the entire way her society is structured is based on a lie and convince her to oppose the Githyankkki status quo.
Sadly, it's some great man "the good king was usurped and slandered and now the evil queen is in control" type shit instead of something based and communist, but what can you expect from most mainstream writers?
Just started Persona 3 Reload. As a longtime fan of the series, I do find it a little strange. Everything is laid out exactly as it was when this game came out on the PS2, but it's all shiny and high rez. They didn't take the opportunity to redesign much at all, so you see stuff like the interior of the dorms that feels very much like a 2000s era video game building interior where the ceiling is unrealistically high on each floor because they didn't know how to program a camera back then, but again, super modern textures and lighting on top of that. It reminds me a little of those YouTube videos by like beginner game devs who import a bunch of Nintendo assets into Unreal engine and label it like 4K realistic Mario or something. Thankfully the UI sells the authentic experience.
But boy, did they overhaul the main dungeon and combat. That shit is smooth as hell and just as engaging as Persona 5. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the new vocalist so far. She just doesn't give the battle theme the swag it used to. Something about the way she over-pronounces "baby, baby" bugs me, I guess lol.
That's exactly how I felt when I played P3R, as someone who last beat it back in... 2014. They kept it the same but perfected the visuals, improved the QoL dramatically and had a lot of unnecessary fat trimmed, particularly from the dungeon crawling aspect.
The rework of Mass Destruction seems to be polarizing but I absolutely fw It's Going Down Now (I just wish it played at a 50% chance instead of every time you get the battle advantage).
This week, it's Enter The Gungeon.
Thats a funny lil shooty bam game
Balatro. My life is over
Played crossplay BG3 with most of my friends for 3 hrs on Wednesday and it was a delight.
X4: Foundations! Currently trying to build a scrap processing factory while also raiding VIG Ice Miners.
Dwarf Fortress. Recruiting large, tall women into my fort and having them take over all the official positions. Mods are great ^^
"The Bazaar is a crazy place"
Did they ever revert all their anti consumer changes? I was very into this game until the CEO idiot lost his damn mind
they reverted the most insane ones, everything can be obtained without spending money but it takes longer
Hell yeah. I keep forcing Mak satchel builds. I just tried oil lantern with apothecary, but I feel like that one would've been a lot better without the satchel and just using pure board disruption instead.
I've been hunting the Exodia of Adrenal Converter and Rapid Injection System with the Earrings. It often needs other stuff for 10 wins but just that alone is incredibly satisfying. Also I found Peacewrought is excellent for making money, just need two or three catalyst generators and you have chunks of lead/gold for days.
I've heard good things about the satchel gotta get a run with it soon.
Star Wars: Fallen Order
This game is pretty fun! Wish my machine could run the sequel lol - probably won't be able to afford that for a while
im playing torrent BattleTech and play that again for the 3rd time
I'm playing through cowboy game (RDR2) again for the what, 6th?, time, because I got the remaster of the first one on sale. I've been a total piece of shit this time around, murdering random people on the roads, stealing from beggars, etc. but I can't get max dishonor because I can't resist throwing dynamite into every klan rally I run across.
Ive been playing stellaris for the new expansion but stopped cause the performance is bad.
Im gonna play Suzerain, the Rizia expansion. If yoy guy dont know I recomend taking a look at Suzerain, its a political sim, you play as the president in the main game and as a king in the DLC, you can choose how to run the country.
My first game I got assasinated by the capitalist because I nationalized their industries.
Been playing a lot of Skyrim recently, modded out the ass of course. Played a good chunk of time as an Altmer light armor spellblade and now am playing as a beefy orc warrior who mostly uses two-handers and crossbows.
Do you have Legacy of the Dragonborn? I've been a fan of using console commands to add to the museum what I've done in other playthroughs as a sort of NG+ mechanic.
For quest mods, I'd recommend Beyond Reach if you haven't played it. A dark fantasy questline written by Marxists that fits in beautifully into the world of TES.
I just played through the interesting NPCs blood of Kings questline on a previous character. I might have to check out that blood of the reach one. I think I tried legacy of the dragonborn before and it was just too much for me. I'm not playing Skyrim to go to zero budget Elseweyr
Mostly been playing some a Pokémon ROM hack called Scorched Silver, which is basically set in Johto 20 years after the original GSC games. It’s been fun. I beat the Elite 4 and moved on to…
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
This game has been a blast. A fantastic prologue coupled with a great Act 1 has made the game really fun.
I’m playing on the base difficulty and have had to spend some time practicing against bosses to win. The music - is also incredible. I would not be surprised if this game won an award for its music at the very least.
It’s a turned based game that relies on parrying and dodging. Similar to Paper Mario. I’ve also heard people compare it to Persona mixed Final Fantasy but have never played Persona and only have played some of FF7 and FFX.
Highly recommend: it’s also on Gamepass for anyone who has that.
Played the nonary game trilogy.
999 is best of the three. Vlr is worse but still pretty good. Ztd is ass
Been playing a bit of super mario 64 on the ds, it's alright for killing time wish the controls were better. Also been doing some kiwami 2 but my ps4 keeps overheating. Might boot some romhacks in a bit an just enjoy the rest of my sunday though daggerfall isn't off the table.
Playing some psx classics from my childhood, FFVIII, Resident Evil, Ape Escape, also I got a new 360 controller for my pc and put on some no-slip thumb grips on the sticks, pretty nice. I adore the 360 controller imo it's the best of the best.
Still playing V Rising, now on a Brutal mode PVP server. It's been great fun if anyone wants to join us DM me and I can give you server details, it's a relatively nice bunch of folks with the assholes either getting mercilessly hunted or banned if they say any bigoted shit.
Been playing a lot of Rimworld, digging the anomaly content that I've never played before. I love feeding raiders too my grove of evil trees almost as much as I love taking combat missions right when huge trade caravans arrive at my base and diverting the enemies into the crowd of merchants and caravan guards. I feel like there should be consequences for this but they keep letting me get away with it.
Also got back into playing DBZ: Kakarot again. I didn't finish it when it came out or play any of the dlc but I love flying around the Toritama verse so much it's such a vibe. Give me a sequel with these exact same game mechanics and an original open-world story and it would be the best DBZ game ever.
Rouge Trader (and when i'm too sleepy resuming my half assed Total War campaign)
Taking some time for the Cassette Beasts DLC. The new quest actually had me running back to lick my wounds at a couple points. That's more time to adjust my team and aim for bootlegs.
New character in Monstroscopy. Might hold off on playing that, since it's more of a music day for me.
I made a mistake and started on FF7 Rebirth. Enjoying it so far, but I see this absorbing a nice chunk of free time for a while lol.
AMCA starting on KotOR 2 also has me reinstalling and playing it. I've finished my homework through Peragus so far. I've never played as a gunslinger Jedi, so that's my plan with this run through!
Been playing Avowed mostly. As much as I miss a lot of features from general RPGs, it's been pretty fun. It's colorful, combat is reactive and fast and exploration is nice. But time and again I'm reminded of annoyances that take me away from the experience.
games
Tabletop, DnD, board games, and minecraft. Also Animal Crossing.
