Yeah maybe to a community like this one but I bet if you polled the average consumer like 80% of them or more would identify price as the primary factor so the headline is ultimately accurate. I would even bet that a huge portion would be entirely unaware of most of what you wrote
One of the main reasons we live in a hellscape is because pricing comes before ethics and quality almost every time. It’s frustrating because it’s a feedback loop in a way: the people buying it up don’t have the disposable income to buy more ethical or higher quality options or they don’t have the time or education to consider the ramifications of their purchases. More often in the modern context their purchases negatively impact their impulse control and drive them to purchase more. “Buy more stuff of worse quality and don’t consider what it took to make it happen”
