Starting this month you can throw bricks at chuds

The rainbow flag or pride flag is a symbol of LGBT pride and LGBT social movements. The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender. Using a rainbow flag as a symbol of LGBT pride began in San Francisco, California, but eventually became common at LGBT rights events worldwide.

Originally devised by the artists Gilbert Baker, Lynn Segerblom, James McNamara and other activists, the design underwent several revisions after its debut in 1978, and continues to inspire variations. Although Baker's original rainbow flag had eight colors, from 1979 to the present day the most common variant consists of six stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. The flag is typically displayed horizontally, with the red stripe on top, as it would be in a natural rainbow.

LGBT people and allies currently use rainbow flags and many rainbow-themed items and color schemes as an outward symbol of their identity or support. There are derivations of the rainbow flag that are used to focus attention on specific causes or groups within the community (e.g. transgender people, fighting the AIDS epidemic, inclusion of LGBT people of color). In addition to the rainbow, many other flags and symbols are used to communicate specific identities within the LGBT community.

Lately in the programmer community, it really feels like a gigantic schism is forming between anti-ai and pro-ai people. Like each side is rapidly getting more and more extreme. Pretty cool!

I’m firmly on the “I’ll offload this one boring tedious task to an llm” side, slowly realizing it’s all boring tedious tasks.

To make the revolution, to transform the old society into a new one is a very glorious, but also extremely heavy task, a complex, protracted and hard struggle. Only a strong man can travel a long distance with a heavy load on his back. A revolutionary must have a solid foundation of revolutionary morality in order to fulfil his glorious revolutionary task.

I hadn't read any thing aside from snippits of Ho Chi Minh before, I really enjoy the style of writing and clearness of his On Revolutionary Morality. Reading it is giving me drive to get hella fit and more engaged cat-com

perhaps this was a joke @MikeyChaz@hexbear.net - if so, it was poorly timed and in poor taste.

Interviewing fucking sucks ass and recruiters should go to the gulag. Last week I was told I have a take home project to do on Wednesday. Now they’re saying there’s a live coding session - possibly a replacement for or a supplement to the take home, but it’s unclear and they’re not sure on that. I gave my availability and they fucking responded with times outside of that. I have 20 years of experience.

Very very tempted just to tell them to fuck off doomjak

cuddle

Today I spent like 4 hours debugging my own setup. I had made a mistake that was a little hard to diagnose that made Docker stop working, and I had to go through hell and back to find what I had done wrong.

jokerfication

Looking for a job sucks, it just feels like everything is cold calling, or submitting my resume to get data scraped to sell to a mailing list.

Noticing a really interesting phenomena online lately

“Rage bait”

Maybe I’m just getting old, but it used to be that if someone was being purposefully obtuse/obnoxious/incorrect, you’d dismiss them as a troll and move on. Much easier

The internet really is dying. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is engagement farming from bots. I need to meet people irl despite the fact that I don’t trust most people irl because more often than not, they’re hell

[-] Carl@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago

for me the difference between trolling and rage bait is intention. A troll wants to waste your time for fun, rage bait is content that cynically uses anger to create engagement for monetization.

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

I think a lot of rage bait is not for monetization, it's ideologically driven. Content that gets posted online that is highly effective at driving some political sentiment is pretty common, and it's just a propaganda tool. Think of the videos of groups of POC doing anything socially untowards that get lots of engagement online: racists get mad because they're racist, then everyone who's anti-racist and doesn't know any better than to ignore the content starts arguing and it just makes the posts go viral. This isn't done for monetization, it's a highly effective radicalization technique.

The left should think of ways to make agitprop ragebait too, IMO. I think we had something good with Luigi posting.

About two years ago I was working a bar server shift and one of the women who worked there called me ‘dollface’ as she was ordering for her break meal.

Still riding that high
