This is going to be especially interesting once Republicans of retirement age realize that 'no Medicare' means them, too.

I think that's covered by Medicaid instead.

[-] Almonds@mander.xyz 19 points 1 month ago

Ironic because quite a few of those that voted for this would be in nursing homes if they weren't politicians

[-] callouscomic@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Does it include that nursing home we call the Capitol?

Guess MAGA can move their elderly family back in. It's what God would want of course.

Joke’s on us: The elderly are the MAGA. They’ll just expect their millennial children to support them again, by insisting that they move in.

There are also 700 hospitals in rural areas that are in danger of closing from the cuts. The funny thing about EMTALA, is that it doesn’t apply to urgent care facilities, which is why they’re popping up everywhere. It’s far more profitable for corporations to be legally allowed to let you die from non-treatment if you’re uninsured.

Oh yeah! I can't wait for MAGA to find out who the "lazy video game playing mooch" ,that fox always brought, up really is!

[-] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

What a protest that would be. Thousands of the elderly affected wearing nursing gowns and marching like it's the day of the dead against their representatives.

[-] madlian@lemmy.cafe 8 points 1 month ago

Humorous as that zombie horde sounds, most of them aren’t capable and will just be put on the street where they will die within 6 months.

[-] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

6 months is optimistic. I worked in a nursing home for 5 years. They would last 3 months tops. Dementia side would last weeks.

[-] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

Wow...and most nursing home residents I'm sure voted for this

Whomp

Fucking

Whomp.

Disadvantaged old people in nursing homes are about to lose their healthcare, bankrupt their families, and die horrible deaths.

It's not whomp whomp unless you are a sociopath.

Billionaires are to blame. This is a class war. I don't want to sacrifice human beings for tax cuts regardless of how they may have voted.

Nope. They made their bed, now it's time to deal with it and get their faces eaten

They had plenty of warning signs. The same goes for those voted for the GOP yet are being deported.

They knew these policies would hurt people and didn't care, they just thought that they wouldn't be the ones hurt and were the protected ones

Elections have fucking consequences.

You act like 100% of old people voted trump. They favored him 52 to 47 according to the AARP.

I understand you are angry, but just being blindly mad at a group of people due to prejudice and stereotyping is not ok. It's exactly what the Republicans are doing with trans and brown people. You are no better than them.
