Had a hilarious moment and discussion which made me wonder how others feel about it. My partner and I share a sonicare but have our own heads we swap out.

I come out of the shower as she finishes brushed teeth and I notice she’s using my head. I smirk and say that’s my toothbrush.

She does a double take and says “not only is it yours but I absentmindedly removed mine to put yours on it!”

We laughed and discussed how much we already share and it’s probably not a big deal.

Then I admitted “well I get up way before you most mornings and I’ve accidentally used yours a couple times. She feigned shock and I said “when I do, I quickly rinse it thoroughly with hot water and put it back.”

Lighthearted morning so far. Have you confessed to using a partner’s toothbrush? How did that go?

My spouse and I use the phrase "we lick each others genitals" anytime one of us joke about sharing germs.

People I work with were shocked to learn I share a toothbrush with my wife. This being a work chat, I had to settle for, "Wait till you hear what else we share"... But I like yours way better.

Once your tongue has been in somebody else's mouth I feel like sharing a toothbrush is not a huge deal

Difference is, we're not using our tongues to pry rotten food stuffs from each other's gums.

chocolate -raspberry ice cream and brandy is an extremely sensual kiss.

If we did we could save the money we spend on toothbrushes.

Kind of like monkeys picking things out of the fur of each other. Only facing one another.

And less crunchy.

It happens accidentally from time to time. No big deal. But if one of you is sick and the other isn't then that's a pretty good transmission vector. So it's worth paying more attention in those situations.

.... just get your own handles?? that things charge only lasts like 3 weeks with just one person i can't imagine sharing it

[-] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

The specific model is rechargeable, unless I'm misunderstanding you.

[-] FunnyUsername@lemmy.world -2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

you must be, because i said it lasts 3 weeks which implies i know it's rechargeable. I'm not aware of any disposable electric toothbrush named sonicare with swappable tooth brush heads.

i have the same toothbrush. that stupid annoying charging base + how fast it dies is a terrible downside for the product for me, and I can't imagine splitting the battery with another person and keeping it on those god awful chargers even more often

[-] howrar@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 weeks ago

What's wrong with the chargers? We have one of those brushes here and it just lives on the charger when not in use. We've never had any issues.

[-] TempermentalAnomaly@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

That's how it was designed. That's how everyone uses it.

[-] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Interesting. Mine is based on a NiCad battery and I don't think it lasts anywhere close to that long.

[-] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago

They cost quite a lot, they seem designed around sharing, got an oral b one currently and the heads have little coloured rings you can put on them.

This made me vomit a little in my mouth.
