Nooooooo you need to play Call Of Fantasy 1-7 to get caught up on the LORE, you just gotta!

final fantasy
there's 16 of them
there's also multiple versions of at least two of them
two of them are MMOs that are still alive probably
there are a number of spinoffs

There are more Final Fantasy 7 spin offs than mainline entries and every time you fact check this statement they release 2 more spin offs.

the mistake is that there are 67 previous entries in the series, right?

The first expedition was Expedition 0, the next one was Expedition 87 iirc, 13 years after the Fracture

https://github.com/laylavish/uBlockOrigin-HUGE-AI-Blocklist might also be relevant, although some false positives.

I fucking hate the way slop machines are being forced on us and degrading the quality of the internet.

Man, Expedition 1 is rough by today's standards. The devs were still figuring things out and a lot of stuff has been streamlined. But if you want to see where the Persona-like-but-with-parrying genre came from, it's worth checking out.

I recommend getting some QOL mods to just smooth things out a bit for playing today, otherwise it's worth keeping the vanilla experience.

I'd love to see a remaster in the modern engine with modern mechanics, just telling the same story in an updated way

Hmm does suggest an interesting format for a roguelike though…
