Also me every morning: I should go to bed earlier to catch more sleep

The suffering never ends

Is this exclusively an ADHD thought...?

[-] fahfahfahfah@lemmy.billiam.net 23 points 1 week ago

Many ADHD symptoms aren’t exclusive the ADHD. Just like not everyone who has a tummy ache has stomach cancer.

[-] obinice@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Oh shit, you're saying I've got cancer?!

It's a lot more common in people with ADHD. ADHD people have a much higher chance to have sleep disorders than typical people.

As a guy without ADHD this has always amplified my drinking. I can get to sleep while trashed. Turns off the mind. In my 50s I've tried to sub geeky audiobooks like the Aeneid or true crime...not always effective.Sometimes the book will end leaving me in silence and if I wake in silence I might as well be up. It's a shitty thing to go through. Especially your entire life.

Yeah...I instantly felt attacked hahaha

Those feels. I hate all the time I "waste" due to indecision or distractions, but I still have to feel like I had free time or I will be depressed. It is even worse when things like work or other external factors that I did NOT plan for get in the way. Dopamine...where art thou?

This is why I get frustrated if I have to work late. I still need 4 hours or so of downtime, which means that if I am up until 1-2am and can't wake up in time for the stupid morning standup, too damn bad. I am privileged that I can do that sometimes, but I have also worked 12-14 hour days for weeks on end at other jobs and even eating seemed like a waste of time.

PS: I do know that you have hunger issues Stamets. If you were in my area, I would feed the hell out of you.

It's called revenge bedtime procrastination.

Sometimes these are things many/most people experience. The degree and frequency they effect people are usually where it's adhd vs "normal".

Everyone forgets their keys/phone/wallet from time to time. Forgetting one or several of them, multiple times a week?...

Sleep with my phone on my bedside table every day. Almost every morning I look for my phone because I don't know if I left it on my bedside table or took it with me somewhere else when turning off the alarm. XD

Yes 😭 And also delayed circadian rhythms, so the body wants to go to sleep later and stay in bed longer

[-] alansuspect@aussie.zone 12 points 1 week ago

When I was a kid I used to think that if everyone fell asleep before me they would all be having fun in tomorrow while I was still trying to get to sleep.

[-] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago

But if you don't sleep, you're gonna pass out at 2AM and lose 1000 gold

Struggle to sleep at midnight before each weekday.

Also sleep immediately at 22 in the weekend

🙄

[-] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Jokes on you. I spend my free time as a means of getting to bed time.
