Can't wait for the episode where they refuse to perform an abortion and the mother dies.

Imagine if it was in anyway realistic and didn’t exist in some lib fantasy in which trans patients are talking about their favorite restaurant while being denied healthcare

This is exciting news! I've always wondered how things ended up working out for Ross, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, and Joey.

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 31 points 2 days ago

One of them is dead and the others are hopefully not Zionists like RoSS.

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago

Holy shit I didn't know Matthew Parry died.

Haven't watched the show since it was originally on the air, but I bet it hasn't aged well. I remember JD being kind of smug and annoying even though he was the protagonist and therefore framed as being a good guy.

He was probably not as bad as Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother, fuuuuuck that guy.

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 33 points 2 days ago

So much of the show is taking place inside JD’s head so yeah, he sees his internal self in the best light. That was the contrast with the not-day dream parts, there he’s needy and constantly seeking validation. I’d say the worst thing with his character is that they Flanderized him as the show went on to milk the “JD doesn’t get traditional masculinity” jokes.

The problem with that in a reboot is he’s not going to be the unsure new doctor straight out of med school anymore, Zach Braff is 50. He’s older now than the actor that played Doctor Cox was at the start of the show. It won’t make sense for him to have been practicing medicine for more than two decades and still be unsure and needy. Which most likely means they’ll have a new, unsure doctor just out of med school which will just make the show feel derivative and stale.

+1 to Mosby being a dick.

A pretty consistent thing in the show is that JD is never right. If he's in conflict with another person he will always be in the wrong, even if that other person holds the same position that JD held in a previous episode where it was shown that it was wrong.

But it has a DNR - just let it die peacefully.

Looking forward to the episode where one of the old doctors is a quack who runs for senate, and then is appointed to gut Medicaid/medicare

They already tried a spin off and it didn’t work. Leave the past behind, Disney.

I liked this show so much when it aired but now despise it. Weird how that happened.

[-] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 2 days ago

im convinced there will be no new original things.

[-] sexywheat@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

Vince Gilligan is working on something new. He rarely disappoints.

[-] Keld@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I would argue he disappoints a lot. Like he has as many stinkers as he does good things under his belt. It could still rule, don't get me wrong, but looking over his filmography it's a real mixed bag.

blows dust off my House MD reboot limited series screenplay

The massive audience for sequels, remakes and and reboots must be a symptom of the rot in America

[-] Meltyheartlove@hexbear.net 23 points 2 days ago

[-] Sulvy@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

If they bring the janitor back I’ll give it a shot

[-] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

Lol. This is what happens when you got it big but literally have nothing else to offer.

[-] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

This seems like a terrible idea. The finale was too good to bring it back.

[-] Muinteoir_Saoirse@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago

ABC already did a shitty ninth season after that finale though

[-] VibeCoder@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

You can’t convince me this happened. Mass hallucination, clearly

[-] propter_hog@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

There is no 9th season. You're supposed to just throw that DVD away when you bought the box set. It was put there by accident.

Grimdark ultra-graphic PrEsTiGe TeLeViSiOn slop version Scrubs when?

[-] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Imagining a version of Scubs where JD is the now a depressed war veteran with a tragic back story who can't stop murdering patients while yelling "MY WIIIIIFE!"

[-] propter_hog@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The Scrubs x M*A*S*H crossover

[-] Keld@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The character JD is based on (Roy Basch from The House of God) is a chainsmoking unipolar depressive whose arc consists of getting disillusioned with medicine and developing rules for practising like "The only good admission is a dead admission".
We're halfway there.

:borat-jokerfied:

Scrubs but the cast is reawaken as Serverators by the Adeptus Mechanicus to work in a field hospital at the front against the Tyranids.

[-] DefinitelyNotAPhone@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago

We're supposed to be posting bad ideas here

[-] naom3@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

It’s called The Pitt and it’s not bad

[-] Keld@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago

That's just House of God, the thing it's sorta based on.

[-] WIIHAPPYFEW@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

wtf is a scrubs didn’t tlc hate it or smth

[-] OptimusSubprime@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago

Ughhhhhhhhhhh fuck. visible-disgust

[-] daniyeg@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

honestly the show hasn't aged well. the main lead is like 50 now. the season 9 was a trainwreck. just leave a story finished for god sake. this is what you get when copyright is over a century, endless reboots of old IPs until the sun explodes.

[-] Gorillatactics@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

If your TV show was airing in 2007 you can get as many reboots as you want.
