The EU must be destroyed.

Snip:

The Czech Republic has amended its criminal code to outlaw the promotion of communism, placing it on par with Nazi ideology. The legislation was signed on Thursday by President Petr Pavel, himself a former Communist Party member.

The amendment introduces prison terms of one to five years for anyone who “establishes, supports or promotes Nazi, communist, or other movements which demonstrably aim to suppress human rights and freedoms or incite racial, ethnic, national, religious, or class-based hatred.”

[...]

The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSCM) has strongly opposed the change, calling it politically motivated. The party is part of the Stacilo alliance and currently polls at around 5%, which could allow it to return to parliament in the October 2025 elections.

"We have liberated Europe from fascism, but they will never forgive us for it."

In July 2021, President Vladimir Putin signed a law prohibiting “publicly equating the USSR with Nazi Germany” and banning the “denial of the decisive role of the Soviet people in the victory over fascism.”

Comrade Putin.

State mandated holocaust trivialisation.

They're pissed that a lot of fairly important rural areas are still communist

The communist control act has been on the books since the 1950s.

all it'll take is one court case to the supreme court...

[-] Hohsia@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

Is it actually enforced though? I could envision a reality where all mentions of communism/socialism are censored by default on twitter/youtube, especially if companies implement lobotomized grok

[-] Elysium@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

Currently, not really.

No one should call themselves a communist in the US though unless they want to open themselves to unnecessary grief. Being a socialist is and always has been fine, to my knowledge.

It's kinda funny that the laws were written by someone perhaps sort of competent who knew the difference between communism and socialism. Basically allowing people to be "democratic socialists" who still wish to uphold capitalism but with more social welfare programs domestically. But if you advocate for communism that's too far. I believe you're fine advocating for the full abolishment of capitalism though which one might argue is communism, but if you don't specifically state that you wish for a communist economic system... sort of ok? None of this is enforced really. People mostly find them to be a joke for now.

They're already trying to dig up the oldest most bullshit laws though to weaponize. Things like the Sec of State can revoke visas at will for any reason they deem to be "national security" related. Which could just be a person farting too loudly near Little Marco.

Might want to nsfw and tag that cw for a distressing image?

Otherwise yeah man I'm sure this law also applies to nazism too, right? R-right? aware

[-] purpleworm@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago

Based on the description, it does apply to Nazism, but if Germany is any indication (they historically pulled similar "both sides" legislation), the communists are actually banned and the Nazis are just going to become "Alternative for Czechia"
