What if this takes down Donald and half of Washington?

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 91 points 1 week ago

honestly, I'm perfectly okay with it taking down all of washington, if it comes to that.

[-] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 34 points 1 week ago

we are supposed to form a more perfect union.

maybe next time without all the greed, racism, and I think we can all agree no pedos too..

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 20 points 1 week ago

I’m sure the Canadians would be happy to help again.

[-] MIDItheKID@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

This is the part I love. There are MAGA folk who are like "Bill Clinton is in the files too" and I'm like "hell yeah, lock him up". Shit, lock up every person that visited that island. Drain the swamp, as it was said. If there were democrats that went there, lock them all up. Lock up the movie stars, and whoever else. These are fucking pedophiles.

Drain the swamp!

[-] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

We're not that lucky.

[-] Kurious84@eviltoast.org 4 points 1 week ago

I call that a good start!

Stop telling yourself it's a few bad apples.

The whole saying is "A few bad apples spoil the bunch." Saying that some people in a group are just a few bad apples doesn't imply that the larger group is sound. It suggests that the entire group is spoiled.

Edit to add: For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's a list of 1,376 (and counting) Republican sexual predators, abusers, and enablers.

That "it's only a few bad apples" would be a reasonable answer if that system gets rid and punishes those bad apples.

But if the system protects and ignores those bad apples, then the whole system is rotten

[-] gedhrel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

"..the barrel." Apples don't come in bunches, but at the time the saying was coined they were carted around like that. (Also it only took one, not a few.)

(I suppose the modern version is "one nazi spoils the bar.")

[-] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The entire top level of the current GOP is a pedophile, christofascist cult.

“If we don’t sin then Christ died for nothing” - Mike Johnson, probably

[-] ZombieMantis@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Pedocon theory is a theory in the same way as the theory as gravity, or term theory.

[-] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 1 week ago

This list is suggestive. Stop telling yourself it's a few bad apples. Stop telling yourself "there are pedophiles in every large enough organization." There are not this many pedophiles in every political party. Both sides are not the same. When Slate went looking for an equivalent list of Democratic pedophiles, they were able to come up with: a random donor, the head of a local Young Democrats, and Anthony Weiner's sexts. Not a speaker of the House, a Chief Justice, and a President.

The article suggests pedos are natural-born conservatives - or vice-versa. My theory is that there are probably as many pedos in the Democratic party, but they're smart enough not to get caught.

[-] chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 week ago

Or the right wing has a much higher concentration of people devoid of empathy, a necessary trait to assault a child.

[-] jaaake@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Lack of empathy is the core root cause of SO MANY right wing causes. It kills me because empathy itself is the core teaching of Christianity. If they were actually good Christians, they would live their lives undo the credo "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Anyway, I find Satanists (TST, specifically) and Leftists far more empathetic.

It’s wild that, despite not having any evidence to supprt your theory, you’re still trying to “both sides” this one.

You need to deal with the fact that conservatism attracts terrible people. Maybe a couple stupid people get fooled by some obvious propaganda but the overwhelming majority are simply excited by the cruelty the ideology offers. It’s entire core value is in assigning different values to people and the range is so large that it’s happy to be as close to slaves and kings as society will allow.

Absolutely I’ll bet there are some shady center-right Democrats that the US believes are leftists. Fact is that most of them are just greedy which is what keeps them as centrists instead of going full fascist. You have to look at the information staring you in the face and accept that the further right one goes the worse company there is to be kept.

It's not so much that pedos are natural born conservatives as it is that MAGA style conservatism is the political expression of pedophilia. It's sort of like how conservatism is the political expression of billionaire oligarch interests - there are some liberal billionaires but not as many because the conservative side is the one structured around pursuing the class interests of billionaires.

Someone should cover Tim Minchin’s ‘The Pope Song’, but targeting Trump/GOP.

You misspelled pedocon "fact"

[-] MehBlah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

They should have let him empty his shitbag he looks backed up.

[-] dumples@midwest.social 2 points 1 week ago

I think what this is pointing out is that those who want to abuse will find a system that gives them systematic power to abuse. So these people will be naturally drawn to systems where they have power and a support system to protect them. So its a self selecting group who are looking to abuse are drawn to system with strong hierarchical structures.

[-] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

This was a new idea to me. That patriarchy and absolute power were connected to abuse and rape. I feel like someone just turned the lights on.
