[-] lelkins@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

i have this thing where i try to beat all secret bosses in their difficult way (jevil under pacifist methods and spamton neo with the hard mode triggering glitch for instance. chappers 1 and 2 are freerf via the demo. i know how to getchall that 3 and 4 but not now)

i defeated SPOILER FOR CHAPTER 3 and will try to defeat OTHER SPOILER FOR CHAPTER 3. OTHER SPOILER FOR CHAPTER 3 is confusing because i always go for pacifism in delt the rune

SPOILER FOR CHAPTER 4 will be exciting, the theme is cool

edit: i called the next bosses SPOILERS FOR THEIR CHAPTERS because i don't want to be banned for 500 years it was the rouxls in gzd matrixe and i'mme doth as theyst sayeth

Been playing morrowind pretty much non stop. Tamriel Rebuilt has got to be one of the best mods ever made. I think I could easily sink 1000 hours into this game with Tamriel Rebuilt.

Not to mention Project Tamriel which is working on adding the entire continent of Tamriel.

Also some thief but I suck at that game

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago
[-] BRINGit34@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

Have you tried the Dark Mod? Its like a modern thief game. Totally free too.

If I had one complaint about it its that there is no real campaign to it. Just missions you can download from the community

Playing Ninja Gaiden Ragebound right now

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

How is it?

It looks soooo good.

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

I'm on chapter 3 right now and so far it has been excellent. Especially liking the boss fights. The only thing that could drop it feom excellent to great would be if it becomes stale or repetitive later.

I've played more Elden Ring and am finishing up Silent Hill 2 Remake.

My favorite video game genres are survival horror, platformers, and CRPGs.

As for the questions of the week:

I have completed Dynasty Warriors Origins, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Elden Ring, and almost Silent Hill 2 Remake.

I think the Switch 2 is a great console, from what I've seen , and I aim to play the new Kirby game, but it is sort-of overshadowed by similar handhelds like the Steam Deck and other handheld PCs. Honestly, at times, the OneXSugar seems like just as good of a buy as Switch 2. A sibling of mine has the Switch 2 so I can always play that.

What I would like to see from video games going forward are more CRPGs and especially more "pro-communist" video games like Disco Elysium. Will we see the latter? Probably not.

But honestly, with more games exploring the Soviet Union nowadays, I want to see stuff that's not too judgmental, that lets the setting at least speak for itself. But that would be asking too much of a lot of devs nowadays.

[-] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

But honestly, with more games exploring the Soviet Union nowadays, I want to see stuff that’s not too judgmental, that lets the setting at least speak for itself. But that would be asking too much of a lot of devs nowadays.

It's not entirely the devs at fault here. I'm sure more than a few of them would love to make more pro-socialist games but when most of your funding comes from the private sector it's a little hard to get away with that openly without being an indie developer, and that comes with its own issues.

[-] AmarkuntheGatherer@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

That's all true, so much so that even devs work clearly socialist inclinations can't go all the way and say outright that that's right and liberalism's wrong. Best they can do is mock the reactionaries in a way that lets us know their intentions while the liberals blissfully believe they're in on the joke.

Regarding the USSR, I think it runs way deeper than that. I'm not convinced there are enough devs in the west that are sufficiently well read that we could put them together in one studio to make one AA title that's historically and sociologically accurate on the USSR. Even if there were, and they solved the funding issue, what's their audience? Anglosphere liberals? This hits an extremely deep issue that won't be resolved for quite some time.

Recently got back into Team Fortress 2 after several years hiatus. I'm still bad at it but it's still fun enough that I don't care.

Also been replaying Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, my favorite installment in the series. It's not perfect but I'm a huge Grecophile so the setting keeps my attention focused.

Been thinking about replaying its predecessor Origins as well as Far Cry 6 as I also enjoyed those two a lot.

[-] lelkins@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

i used to be a heavy main, 100 hours and shit

gave up cause of bots and cause of far right bullshit :(

i just want my funny pootis jokes back :(((

[-] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'm a Pyro main myself.

The bots are mostly gone, I've only ever been matched into one game full of bots in the entire month I've been playing again. Lot better than how it was not long ago. Far Right weirdos have always been a thing in TF2 but in my experience there's less of them now than there were in the past. Or maybe there's just more normal people playing. Regardless I rarely encounter these types anymore.

[-] lelkins@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

also the 64 bit version is released at that moment in time but still

i just want funny pootis and no nazis that want me dead in real life like seriously i've been told to kill myself because i used the natascha (weapon i just unlocked at the time) and was constantly kicked because no hats

[-] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, there are some toxic people unfortunately. That's just a consequence of online games though.

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

Do you aim to play Assassin's Creed Shadows?

[-] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

At some point, yeah. Money is kinda tight right now though so I haven't been able to shell anything out for it just yet.

[-] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

Just finished playing World of Goo 2, was a pretty fun puzzler. In general, I like story based games and roguelikes. I'm not too excited about Switch 2 at the moment, the only game I'd want to play is the new Mario Kart, and just can't justify the cost for that. Mostly been playing stuff on Steam lately, and already have a huge library there.

[-] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

Currently playing:

  • Megamek — A (free) way to play the battletech tabletop game on the computer, and against ai, has a pretty steep learning curve
  • cyberpunkdreams — a free-to-play cyberpunky text based game, only have a few hours in it, but it's pretty sick so far

favorite genres are RPGs (all kinds) and simulators (space and mech)

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

Oooo, a text-based game!

[-] Mzuark@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'm grinding away at AC4 Black Flag and Kingdom's of Amalur

[-] KrasMazov@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

Oh hell yeag, I love Black Flag, battling in the sea was sick.

[-] Eat_Yo_Vegetables69@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Symphony of war was a pretty cool game that runs on any hardware.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 was a nice one too, but didn't realise how reactionary the developer/publisher was until reading this...

Finished Death Stranding 2 last week and it'll probably be my GOTY this year. The ending had me laughing out loud at how absurd it was. The day Kojima stops making his weirdass games will be a sad day

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 week ago
[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

I've recently played/read Raging Loop. I love these kinds of super convoluted, mindblowing stories with like a loop or quantum mechanic reason there's a flowchart, but it wasn't the best in the genre. Spoilers ahead I guess (without details)

spoilers for raging loopThe MC is at the same time both a self-insert type (he can do everything and knows everything) and a piece of trash. The ending is 2 hours of exposition dump "turns out it was like this all along wdym you still have questions" that still leaves a LOT of stuff unexplained and doesn't really hit hard because they didn't quite build you up to it. I.e. there's no big reveal. Finishing the game unlocks revelations mode which adds people's thoughts and sometimes scenes the MC wasn't around to witness but the devs clearly intend for you to read through the VN again, even though you've just finished it and remember basically everything. The revelations scene are marked in the flowchart and you can skip the main story text to only go through the new scenes, but then you kinda miss the context of when these scenes pop up, and most of them are pretty short and so far, about halfway through, very few of the new additions were actually important. I feel like this could have been handled better, ultimately entirely in the base game tbh.

Despite these complaints the idea is solid, can't really go wrong with that type of mechanics. I was also surprised that it was basically a game of werewolves (you know, the table game) lol. They're playing a real-life game of werewolves.

Much preferred Virtue's Last Reward, the original ace attorney trilogy (no "restart" mechanic but it's great all the way through), and Paranormasight. Open to suggestions if people have more of these VNs to recommend. My next one is probably going to be ever17, going in blind as always, and I have a bunch more downloaded on my phone. Had to download 3 different emulators and find APKs and sideloaders but I did it lol.

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

Meanwhile, I am struggling with using emulation on my tablet.

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's kind of messy. The emulators exist for android (including Citron for the Switch, which works great) but they need firmware files and stuff on first start. Some machines also encrypt games and you need additional or specific file formats for them, e.g. the ps vita.

The switch for example needs an unlock file to start with and some website has it but I forgot the name.

If you look on reddit there's usually resources but it does require some research. For the PS Vita for example NoPayStation is the best source, it has the game files AND the accompanying .work file that you also need.

You can either download everything on the tablet directly or connect it to your computer with a USB cable and transfer the files. For the emulators install the .apk files. For games I usually create a folder in the root folder on my phone (so like no subfolders or anything, don't overcomplicate it) named after the emulator and I drop my games in there. Citron will ask you so select the folder, I do, and it just reads whatever's in there. Other emulators like Vita 3k need you to install games individually but I still keep them in a "Vita 3k" folder so I know where to look for them.

[-] NothingButBits@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

Finished my anual play of Stellaris, now I'm doing my anual replay of the ME trilogy.

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

Previous BioWare developers are making a new game.

[-] NothingButBits@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

I know, let's hope it turns out to be a great game. Also excited for The Outer Worlds 2.

[-] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

The Outer Worlds 2

I heard its quite in a bad shape. Also its almost 80$ and I am sorry it wont be worth that. The first game was okish.

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

I still have yet to play Obsidian's recent game Avowed, which I really want to play, despite everyone hating on it.

[-] sinovictorchan@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

I am still playing Influence Android OS app and reading visual novels. I had gotten into Ren'py coding last year to create visual novel.

[-] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

My younger sibling plays visual novels like Fate;Stay Night and stuff like that.

[-] KrasMazov@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

I've been playing Risk of Rain 2, some Need For Speed Heat with a friend and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

I hope I can unlock the Ethereal skill on Mercenary since the current Prismatic Trial looks to be easy, but hell what a pain the ass to get it, lol.

I don't understand much about cars at all, but my current one on NFS Heat is a Honda S2000 '09 and I'm loving it, really fun car and has a sick painting right now.

FF7 is my first FF and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm on chapter 16 and what a great game, I love doing ecoterrorism against big corpo!!! sicko yes

I want to start Deltarune after finishing FF7, I only played the first 2 free chapters, I really want to see the new ones.

What do you think of the Switch 2?

Looks underwhelming honestly, I hope it gets jailbroken soon, then it will be cool to see what people can do with it since it's a least a somewhat powerful system, could become a really good emulation machine and even Linux machine.

What would you like to see from video games going forward?

Honestly don't know, more experimentation, but indies tend to do good on that front. I guess better optimization going forward for big titles, but I doubt that will happen. I'm not versed in gamedev to make a good critique, but I have yet to see an UE5 game that is well optimized, every single one I have tried run badly in some way or another. I have a 5700 XT, which is starting to show it's age a little bit, but I expected better.

[-] FuckBigTech347@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 week ago

I've been playing a lot of RCT1+2 (OpenRCT2) and some Nethack lately. I'm mostly indifferent about the Switch 2, but I don't like how cartridges that only carry a download key exist.

What would you like to see from video games going forward?

I would love for game developers to experiment with neural nets to implement NPC/Enemy AI. Like a Real Time Strategy or a Turn-based Strategy game with a Computer opponent that can dynamically adapt to and learn from the Player's actions and strategy could be very interesting.

[-] SpaceDogs@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

What Games have you played recently?

Fields of Mistria, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

What are your favourite genres?

I honestly do not know lol I am clearly an eclectic gamer.

Games completed this year?

Rise of the Tomb Raider. I made a post about it discussing the anti-communist elements within it.

What do you think of the Switch 2?

I honestly want one so i can play Mario Kart World, but unfortunately it is out of my price range right now and I cannot justify the prices of the games. I still have my regular switch and will just play the new Pokémon game on that.

What would you like to see from video games going forward?

I would like them to be more affordable lol I would also like them to be less anti-communist, could you imagine a tomb raider game that isn’t shitting on the USSR and actually did its historical research? That’d be my favourite game ever! Obviously anti-communism in games only come from certain regions on the planet but it’s those games that I have easy access to.
