Because it's shit, that's why, and yes, I watched it.

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago

me to. I even made a warning post because of how bad it was. Did you make it to the end?

[-] Pronell@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I did, I was openly laughing about how the plot contradicted itself and all the Amazon product placement.

[-] MelonYellow@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

It’s being advertised on Prime Video as the #2 top watched movie right now. I just laughed lol they’re rankings are a total joke

[-] Ilandar@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

Maybe it is the second most watched movie...you're all here talking about it, after all.

[-] 9point6@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Surely it can't be worse than Borderlands to name a recent piece of rubbish I saw, currently sat at 10% on rotten tomatoes

There is apparently an action scene in which ice cube needs a thumb drive, so orders one via Amazon drone delivery. The drone goes down in all the chaos, and our characters have to barter with the homeless man who found the downed drone by offering him Amazon gift cards. The man is a conspiracy nut who thinks the government is tracking him, but a $1000 Amazon gift cards convinces him to risk his life for the characters.

So yes, it is worse than Borderlands.

Your description is hilarious, but I'm guessing actually watching it is much less so.

[-] assembly@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Borderlands is Oscar material compared to this thing. I watched it thinking it couldn’t be that bad and it was worse than I thought an amateur movie could be.

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

oh borderlands was a masterpiece compared to this.

This is my favorite critic's review on Rotten Tomatoes.

[-] ApeNo1@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

This movie could have been an email.

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 4 points 1 week ago

Shame. The original story is a classic (deservedly so) and has SO MUCH potential.

[-] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

That seems to be the story with 90% of Amazon's content attempts. Technically it may have been Universal Studios, but let's be honest, it's clear Amazon was in charge given the intense product placement embedded in the screenplay.

I mean they got ice cube, I can’t imagine them wanting to make a good movie.

[-] normonator@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Lol is this the movie that Linus Sebastian got cut from? They did him a favour.

[-] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 1 points 1 week ago

It was so fucking bad. Me and the wife shut it off half way through.

[-] HamsterRage@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 week ago

How did you get that far? The wife and I lasted about 5 minutes.

[-] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 4 points 1 week ago

Well we didn’t realize it was going to be him sitting in the chair with that annoying UI the entire movie. We kept being like “OH HES GONNA GET UP” or “OH HIS DAUGHTER IS DYING OUTSIDE HE HAS TO GET UP AND SAVE HER” and then he got up and we were like “OH SHIT THE MOVIE IS GONNA START” but he was locked in the room and he went and sat back down. It was funny but horrible too.

[-] zero@fek.xyz 1 points 1 week ago

Ah fuck... I'm going to watch this later... I'm in for a great time it seems.

[-] scytale@piefed.zip 1 points 1 week ago

I didn’t even know this movie existed until a couple of days ago when it hit digital release. Then I wondered how a War of The Worlds movie can possibly fly under my radar. Then I saw it was Ice Cube, and that made me go hmm for sure. THEN I saw the ratings.

[-] rhythmisaprancer@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

I had not heard of this either, but what is it about Ice Cube? I haven't seen him in a movie in a long time, Friday era, I don't remember him being bad in that (or earlier films), no good now?

[-] 0ndead@infosec.pub 0 points 1 week ago

Right click > Commandeer Drone

[-] dickalan@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Is this referencing a game in particular or just a General game thing

[-] 0ndead@infosec.pub 0 points 1 week ago

The shitty War of the Worlds reboot

[-] dickalan@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Well, as you can tell, I haven’t seen it, thank you by the way
