Is the buffalo keeping a trophy?

[-] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Based buffalo

[-] shadowedcross@sh.itjust.works 88 points 1 week ago

You already deserve to be gored to death for trophy hunting, but if you try hunting something called the Black Death, you're just asking for it.

[-] rc__buggy@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 week ago

Naw, I can take him! Hold my beer!

[-] martinb@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 6 days ago

Built different, eh 😂

[-] Honytawk@feddit.nl 4 points 1 week ago

rc__buggy was never heard from again

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 69 points 1 week ago

This would be more suitable in an "uplifting news" community

[-] 0ops@piefed.zip 8 points 1 week ago

In this case, literally uplifting? By the horn puncture wound?

[-] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

How? It's ACTUALLY uplifting, not Corpo Apologia

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Right, and this is Lemmy, not Facebook

[-] Honytawk@feddit.nl 2 points 1 week ago

Doesn't feel like it sometimes.

“On Sunday, while on a hunting safari with us in South Africa's Limpopo Province, Asher was fatally injured in a sudden and unprovoked attack by an unwounded buffalo. He was tracking it together with one of our professional hunters and one of our trackers. This is a devastating incident, and our hearts go out to his loved ones.”

Go fuck yourself Coenraad and Vermaak Safaris. Unprovoked my ass. You were trying to murder the Buffalo. Also, stop calling this shit hunting. You can’t lead a millionaire douchbag with a gun out into a ranch with a tracker and call him hunter. Are you going to pull the trigger for him too?

[-] MyDarkestTimeline01@ani.social 1 points 3 days ago

You ever look up what the proceeds of those safaris go to? Usually, to animal conservation efforts and to pay the people who stop poachers. If you don't believe me feel free to look it up. And usually the "targets" of these safaris are from problem animals or animals who have become too much of a burden to care for.

"I was trying to kill him and he attacked me completely unprovoked!"

Would not hold up in court if we were talking about humans.

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

The buffalo was unprovoked?

[-] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 35 points 1 week ago

But is he okay? Getting shot at can be traumatic. I hope he's okay.

[-] Maiq@lemy.lol 30 points 1 week ago

And I thought feel good news articles were dead. It's good to know journalism can still bring a smile to my face occasionally.

[-] RedGreenBlue@lemmy.zip 28 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I hope the buffalo is ok. Imagine minding your own buissnes, and a murderer comes and takes shots at you.

[-] pickman_model@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago

In all fairness, this was truly self-defense. I would do the same if I was a buffalo.

[-] saltesc@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

"Hunter" guided to the largest target out there, somehow still misses so bad, the target pummels him.

👏...👏...👏...

We have one less Elma Fudd.

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

He must have not been a true millionaire. I hear they're invincible. Only way to prove you’re one of them is to try this shit and see if you’re killed.

Other similar options: Submersible near the Titanic, riding in Boeing aircraft, orbiting in a Tesla, being on the slicing end of a guillotine. All voluntary of course.

[-] Sculptor9157@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago

I see the problem. He is targeting a land-based species, but has his weapon and attention on something in the air. A common, but fatal, mistake. Shoot for the moon, land on the horns of a buffalo.

[-] DozensOfDonner@mander.xyz 13 points 1 week ago

I love the responses in the content section. Good riddance to this fucking guy and let those safari parks crumble.

Oh no!! 😭

[-] Bluewing@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

To maybe add a little bit of perspective on the why of his hunting a Cape Buffalo.

The danger of getting maimed or killed is an integral part of the hunt for people like him. This time he lost to the hunt and the Buffalo won. And this is not considered the most dangerous land animal in Africa to hunt. That honor goes to Hippos. Evidently they don't much respect getting shot with .500 nitro Express......

I won't shed a tear for him, but I do understand his thoughts.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 8 points 1 week ago

Black Death > white rich man.

[-] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

So why do they call it Black Death, anyway?

[-] Honytawk@feddit.nl 10 points 1 week ago

Probably because it was a super friendly albino buffalo.

Couldn't he hunt some non-named buffalo? This is like trying to shoot Kirk instead of a red shirt.

[-] Aimeeloulm@feddit.uk 1 points 6 days ago

But wouldnt the result have been the same if he had hunted Kirk, prolly been double fist punched to death ?

In loving memory of your demise

[-] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago

Why is South Africa underlined?

[-] Grumpy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

My guess: It's a link. This news website likely will show other South Africa news if you click it.
