I must have missed something. Why did they return?
Got bored of their paid vacation is my guess.
Edit: I guess it is because they ended the special session, but now they are gonna have a 2nd special session with all the same agenda item (and more) so nothing was achieved.
It's so on-brand of dems to do a meaningless jerk off performative stunt like refusing to go to work...then coming back...then getting put under house arrest anyway. Yeah, that'll show those mean old republicans what GOOD trouble is all about 
I bet republicans feel totally owned and slammed. 
This libs on Reddit said it was literally performative to draw attention to redistricting and that the bill had to pass to be challenged by the courts (lmao)
