Or tree root growing into your kitchen

[-] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 28 points 3 days ago

Really? Roots grow pretty slowly. You'd have a small perturbance, then a little bump, then an annoying bump. This is a "kitchen is almost unusable" level of floor displacement. And considering the rest of the room doesn't look like it was ignored for 10 years.....

[-] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 3 days ago

Was more of a joke, because yes the popped out tile separators show that this happened recently and with lots of force. I was thinking of the way sidewalks often look like this because of tree roots.

[-] MML@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago

I'm pretty sure this was caused by the material expanding too much on a fresh install, that's why there's the white spacers in the pic, as to why it expanded so much I don't know

I just step over it. I don't see the problem.

Did ~~anyone~~ any of the inhabitants survive after this entire building failed catastrophically?

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

I'm still alive and I can see some people going about their day out my window, so yes, there were survivors.

[-] Bonus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

I see what I did wrong there now.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago

"There were no survivors."

"Then how am I reading this and how are you reporting it? Huh? HUH??"

[-] Bonus@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

We all see dead people

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

[-] sirico@feddit.uk 9 points 3 days ago

Mole people

[-] scytale@piefed.zip 8 points 3 days ago

This happened to me at my old condo. Apparently the original tiles had very little “adhesive” (or whatever you call that concrete mix to make them stick) so when one piece finally detached, it caused a chain reaction and lifted the surrounding tiles. I was in the bathroom and legit thought my living room was about to cave in the way it sounded. And this was at the 15th floor of a high rise.

[-] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 days ago

It's water is going to break any day now.

Something is compressing this house sideways. The tiles have no give, so the floor with them bulges up.

Have you checked if your home was built on an ancient burial ground?

[-] SurfinBird@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago

The wooden door on the dish washer? There can be no explanation.

[-] beccaboben@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

At first I was like, how fancy, they’ve matched their dishwasher to their cabinets. Then I saw the handle, and now I need answers.

[-] ryedaft@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

I'm guessing that they are idiots and wanted a dishwasher with the same front as the rest of the kitchen but bought one with controls on the front instead of inside. So they mounted a front only on the lowest bit. And then because idiots (as mentioned before) they also added a handle.

[-] Triumph@fedia.io 7 points 3 days ago

That's a water leak.

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago
