I think the majority of people just genuinely don't know how vile he was and think celebrating a public and gruesome murder is in poor taste. I know how vile he was and therefore how this is ultimately good but I am terminally online. Most people aren't.

I've seen people die in person, like getting stabbed and it felt bad. Fun fact about me I was present at the 2019 London bridge stabbing, the one where the assailant was subdued with a fire extinguisher and a narwhal horn and two people died. Yeah it felt bad to be in that situation and see that, because they seemed like normal people who probably didn't deserve it.

I'm probably evil though because when I saw Kirk get ventilated I just laugh. The gore part didn't bother me, maybe I'm numb to it? Like I've also seen the one where Budd Dwyer shoots himself. I had a misspent youth on the internet so I've seen beheadings and stuff, I don't know.

I'm totally in agreement. I do worry a little bit about how much we cultivate and stoke up our own bloodlust here. People would do well to realise you can happily celebrate a Nazi's death while still acknowledging the fact that there are sad elements to it. That it really sucks that we got to this situation at all. That Nazi had loved ones and it sucks we don't live in a world where he could be contained and re-educated instead.

Fuck him and basically everything he ever said, but public figures are also people with complex lives. His death was good, fire the confetti, I'm all for it. But let's also not actively try to be ignorant to the realities of it either.
