I’ve recently “moved” countries! And by that I of course mean the country I exit from online. I’m trying to keep a perma-VPN situation going.

YouTube loaded for me on my computer, where I’m logged in, even through uBlock Origin. But no luck on their locked down phone app, where I’m also logged in. Very weird. Shuffled servers a bit and still nothing. And I’m not talking about sports content which is always super locked down.

Anyone else facing this problem? Has this been the norm for a while in some exit countries? Is this just one of those wait for it to tide over situations that works itself out in the end?

Weirdly it loads shorts just fine.

I wonder at what point it would end up being better to just rent a VPS and wireguard into that.

In case your answer is “Just use Peertube!” my reply is Inshallah I will

What country did you last have issues with? I'll try it out. I use Nord for downloading videos, and it seems that YT have flagged every single Dutch and UK IP I try as a potential bot, restricting access completely without being logged in.

There also seems to be a huge issue where YouTube has recently delisted a significant amount of videos - and I don't mean unlisted or private. I mean they just don't exist through channels or yt-dlp any more. I think YT is killing creators

I've heard from a couple of creators that some of their videos have just disappeared. Few will say much, and none on record, so I think Google is threatening them somehow. Note, the videos I watch on YT are not political or controversial in any way.

Have you checked your account to ensure their shitty AI didn't label you as a minor?

Yeah, at least two of my accounts aren't flagged, it's ok. I think there are only two ways that dozens of videos could've been removed from multiple channels in the same couple of months: Manual decision, or a large scale removal for content violation, which was flagged by YT AI.

I've had a VPN on my router for years. Past 2 years have become increasingly difficult. Many websites are blocking them.

I've tried many major providers. Now I'm looking at small non profits offering a VPN, hopefully with better results.

Try something like a Revanced patch for your youtube client on your phone if you haven't already - mine's been chugging along with a VPN for ages

In my experience, Youtube is pretty on their VPN exit node blocking game (but it definitely times out, if you wait a month, you may well see one work again for a while). If you want to VPN youtube, you're best off using a provider with a LOT of exit nodes that come and go.

And, if your trying to get around geo fencing, one that doesn’t openly share their IP ranges.

Not sure. You can use invidious as an alternative to watch the vids.

The free Proton VPN servers have been getting hit for like 3 months now. And they're constantly changing what free server is available to use. The American servers have been shut down plenty of times, but the ones in other parts of the world are working fine, though slower to connect.

Try countries in Southeast Asia and South America. It works fine for me there.
