Reminds me of the infuriating interview with Shigeru Miyamoto where he was asked if there would be any new F-Zero games, and his answer was along the lines of "What would you even want from a new F-Zero game?" as if this mother fucker didn't produce the same Mario game 14 times

Mfs when farming nostalgia: of course people want to relive their good old days! Give it to them, remake everything they loved and more.

Mfs when they can’t profit from nostalgia as much: JUST BUY THE NEW THING OLD THING BAD?

RE2 and 3 are quite distinct from their remakes. Not like corpos would know anything about that, much less care.

At least they allowed the trilogy to see a GOG release.

But this one has higher resolution textures. That means it's better. This number I'm looking at is higher than the one found in the original. What do you want the original for??

The real question is, does Chris have huge gazongas. Because if he doesn't, it's woke, and I don't want anything to do with it.

I always find the videogame preservation stuff kinda funny cause like, anyone can download the vast majority of games ever made for free just by searching a little. You don't even need a torrent for most of it. The obsessiveness of some people to legitimize everything is very odd to me. Maybe this is a little pretentious, but things I enjoy becoming mainstream very rarely improves the experience!

most dont know how to do that and that's the easy part, for regular people who are computer illiterate the hard part is how to optimize it and run it in your emulator.

Motivation to learn 2 computer.

10 year olds have been autodiadactically bypassing parental controls since parental controls were a thing. Why do we need to beg corporations for scraps just because people feel the need to be babied?

I'm so tired of this conversation.

"X requires bare minimum effort and curiosity in this age of information we live in."

"But what about the incurious??? Where is their spoon from which to feed???"

I guess there are also a lot of PlayStation, Switch and Xbox(bwahahaha) owners that want to buy old games on their proprietary boxes.

I was sceptical about managers using generative AI. But honestly their is no way it's any less competent.

as someone who (tried to) play the original Resident Evil I am also bewildered that people might want to play it.

[-] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

You do at least like the 2002 remake, right? disgost

[-] Runcible@hexbear.net 1 points 2 months ago

I never tried. The switching camera perspective and movement input was so awful I remember it still as the single worst UI decision I have ever seen

Yes they are known as fixed camera angles and tank controls respectively and they are synonymous with classic survival horror

[-] LisaTrevor@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

I don't really love the first one, but RE 2 and 3 are honestly solid, hold up really well

This is kind of weird coming from the company that rereleased the REmake and RE Zero in 2015 as budget downloadable titles where they proceeded to sell like a million copies
