seriously tho, you HAVE to watch breaking bad
i don't base my media consumption choices on spite for people, so i get to watch good shows instead of running a test against some mental list of things I won't watch because "that will show em!"
ill also watch just about any pilot/first episode, because in theory it's a team coming together to lead off with their dramatic/emotional hook and A-material for production value. so if they can't sell me on it and there's no other compelling, external reason to stick around after the first ep, i move on.
i also don't recommend shows to people unless they specifically ask my opinion on what to watch, and then i tailor it to them and what they're looking for in terms of story telling.
because a lot of people have weird hangups where they refuse to watch anything with Peter Falk because their uncle's piano tuner looked like him and he farted too much one day during hockey practice... and I'd just as soon not know any of this.
This is the sanest comment about media consumption I have seen in years Mashallah
Andor, already hated GoT enough for the prestige TV shock jock use of treating women terribly to be seen as a 'serious' and 'hard hitting' show. Its a truly terrible meta that has proliferated and forces many women with PTSD to avoid media and media discussions (a wide part of our culture). Its so bad that many survivors I know stick almost exclusively to children's shows, e.g. Adventure Time, Owl House, etc.
Battlestar Gallactica
Don't bother, it's cringe and anyone who says otherwise has on rose-colored glasses if they haven't rewatched recently and bad tastes if they have.
Walking Dead
Feel like I'm kinda losing it, I thought this show was well known for botched seasons. I remember the infinite shotgun memes from that scene from the first season. Personally, I watched the first season and gave it a pass after that, not worth it.
Breaking Bad
Sorry, but your instincts are wrong on this one. It does live up to the hype. And you have to watch this to watch the spin off which somehow manages to be even better, Better Call Saul.
Andor doesn't live up to the hype
Rage bait
As for me, it's any Trek show except for Lower Decks, which was alright I guess. I tried watching TNG, but the first season was too cringe and idc if subsequent seasons are better, it's just too cringe.
For most Star Trek shows you're better off with highlight episodes tbh, though now and then a great one is part of a longer story arc.
I just started Babylon 5 and it starts wayyy stronger than any Trek starts.
The first season of B5 has plenty of filler episodes, and I'd argue that season 2 has plenty of fluff until the episode In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum. It's been a long time since I watched the show though, and at some point in the near future I'm planning to rewatch.
BSG was essentially a giant Bush-era terrorism allegory, so it's probably extra cringy to watch these days.
Also the (quite literal) deus ex machina ending was super weird and came out of nowhere, I mean I guess some things probably went over my head as a kid when I was watching that but still it was weird.
if someone even MENTIONS a show I haven't seen to me in person chances of me watching it drop off of a fucking cliff and I don't know why
I just can't seem to be recommended shows
I know its good. I've been told over and over and over again. I simply can't!
People have lied to you. The showrunners basically admitted they had no plan and were making shit up as they went along, resulting in plot twists that rendered previous twists nonsensical.
That's Incredible! I knew people who wouldn't shut the fuck up about this show.
By like the halfway point of the series they'd ran out of ideas for twists, so
spoiler
they just started making random people cylons even when it didn't make sense. They literally admitted they didn't even think about how it would function and got the math wrong and had to retcon an explanation for the number of Cylons.
They also turned a character's religious belief correct, as in they were canonically a messenger of actual capital G God..
An old friend kept trying to get me to watch Seinfeld in high school.
I am vindicated in my decision to not watch it
Andor. I'm done with Disney for what they did to The Owl House. No exceptions.
The only reason to watch Breaking Bad at this point (and I say that believing it is a good show) is to watch the superior Better Call Saul with context.
How is Better Call Saul better? The first season is so boring.
Breaking Bad is bangers from the start all the way.
Ok but it’s a prequel
every Marvel movie
Andor (probably)
I haven't committed to never watching it but I'm a bit weary about revolutionary Disney slop.
The Curse / Nathan for you
I just can't. It's not that I don't understand Nathan Fielders quality but it's just too uncomfortable for me.
Doesn't help that the person who introduced me to Nathan for you was a former boss who looks and talks quite a bit like Nathan.
I will never watch the Wire.
I've met a few people who just fucking refuse to watch Breaking Bad and it's always someone who I know would enjoy it if they actually bothered to give it a shot. I don't know if it's your thing or not because I don't know ya, but I will still tell you what I told all of them: I actually fully understand being a contrarian but you're really only hurting yourself by not indulging in the most well-acted, well-written, well-shot show (including Better Call Saul) I have ever seen.
All of them. I hate the way my brain feels when I watch TV, so I don't.
I'll be honest I'm so obsessed with Breaking Bad that I can't even tell if its good anymore.
It's very good but tbh if you don't like it after watching the whole first season it's probably not for you.
I didn't watch The Wire until white people stopped telling me I had to watch The Wire. That was approximately January 2017.
walking dead was never good and I don't know how it caught on... that said we watched it for like 3 seasons but even after the first few episodes of the first season i was checked out and only kept watching it because my partner got real into it. After the 3rd season I just couldn't force myself to watch it anymore
Friday Night Lights.
Good god, people, you know I loathe football. I don't care if it's not "about" football, it's "about" small-town America, or whatever... I don't like that, either.
I loathe football
the shitty sports Americans play or the real thing
context says it's the first since you metioned its about "small town america" but I still wanna see your opinion
The Wire. Fuck you I will not watch The Wire
Every anime
I started watching breaking bad when it was still releasing, and I felt like it was too edgy and hamfisted. I didnt like at the time how they killed off certain characters, or treated them. So by the time the final episode came out I refused to watch it, and still never have. I never expected it to become as popular as it has.
The wire - 2edgy 4 me (and boring)
Walking Dead - watched a when it first released, dropped after a few seasons.
Battlestar Galactica - i knew someone's mom who was obsessed but it never interested me.
Andor - meh
Now to finally answer your question!!
My hero academia - sounds like awful copaganda
Dexter remake - you cant fool me again!!!
Invincible - you cant make me
Better call Saul - my dislike of breaking bad still remains, so this will probably not be watched.
Black Mirror - no interest
House Of The Dragon - No
The Last Of Us - 2edgy and written by a zionist (I did watch gameplay before discovering this and felt something was horribly off, which is explained by the zionism)
House - you cant make me!! Same for any medical show really.
Better call Saul is, in my opinion, better than breaking bad. BCS has a more coherent & thought out story where as BB should've ended at S5 but threw on S6 to.... Make more money I guess?
House - you cant make me!! Same for any medical show really.
House is not a comedy show but it's pretty hilarious
the wire took me 3-4 episodes to start differentiating the characters enough to care about them. it's very good but very depressing, i wouldn't call it a must-watch.
My hero academia
True. Watch the abridged parody instead https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuAOJfsMefueieAjE_I1rnZkrTzDuMPSP
Better call Saul
It's pretty different to Breaking Bad.
