a social media sensation among toddlers

Sure is a cursed sentence

[-] FishLake@lemmygrad.ml 34 points 1 month ago

It is if you engage with her content as solely a social media product, which is surely what the writer meant.

If that's the one bad thing he did, he's still a better person than almost every other American.

[-] vegeta1@hexbear.net 56 points 1 month ago

At a time where the far right is surging and a billionaires fund them, a youtuber concerned with starving kids is the villain here. Sounds about right with this stupid planet vegeta-stare

[-] Llituro@hexbear.net 49 points 1 month ago

this is your reminder that "StopAntisemitism" is literally the project of one committed zionist in long island with nothing better to do all day. it's not even an org per se, it's a more institutionalized libsoftiktok

[-] Dessa@hexbear.net 45 points 1 month ago

This seems like the dumbest possible angle they could take if they're trying to win hearts and minds. They more noise they make about Ms. Rachel the more it makes them look bad

[-] UselessRN@lemmy.ml 36 points 1 month ago

Remember her only position is that children shouldn't die and should be fed regardless of world issues

[-] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 34 points 1 month ago

Do they think people will genuinely be convinced Ms. Rachel is an antisemite? That's obviously ludicrious

[-] ClassIsOver@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

Hasbara is powerful. I have a client who tried to tell me that "The 50th anniversary release of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here is great, it's a shame Roger Waters is a raging anti-semite". I looked it up. He's just in favor of ending the genocide in Palestine, and is willing to face prison time for it.

[-] Grapho@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago

Doesn't help when that stupid fuck Gilmour aays it too

[-] Salah@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

Roger Waters is a long time Palestine advocate, at a time when the hasbara machine was way more powerful. Its effects lingers.

[-] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 34 points 1 month ago

my favorite anti Semite aubrey-happy

Its never a someone who denied the holocaust or a Nazi that said it was good, its always a small media personality

[-] oculi@anarchist.nexus 26 points 1 month ago

Ms. Rachel is kkkhhamass? Damn... That's so based of her.

[-] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago

Demonizing Ms Rachel seems like such an easy to avoid L.

[-] kristina@hexbear.net 23 points 1 month ago

Gifting miss Rachel a paramotor as a bit

[-] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 22 points 1 month ago

The grift Zionists are trying to pull is so fucking lazy and stupid. Why is it working? Why do we continue to allow this to happen? I fucking hate it here man.

StopAntisemitism is a fascist organisation undermining democracy.

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

― Jean-Paul Sartre

I guess we have to change it to "pro-Semites" in this day and age but the point still stands. Have fun trying to explain how being anti-Antifa and anti-StopAntisemitism are polar opposites tho, at least if you're the type to use words responsibly. StopAntisemitism is obviously not.

[-] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

I would argue that someone claiming that murdering children is an essential and non-negotiable part of Judaism is an anti-Semite, even if they are Jewish.

[-] Maeve1@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 month ago

Plus Palestinians are Semite.

[-] Coolkidbozzy@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

you can change it from anti-semite to fascist, antisemitism has never been inherent to fascism

Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
