Did Opie edit their link in the end? It looks the same now.

God damn way to bury the lede with that title. He's an old guy I assume found dead in his home means he died like of old age or cardiac arrest or something. Not that it's potential double homicide.

And reports now saying it's their son

I'm not saying he didn't do it. In fact I'm pretty sure at the end of the day it will come out that he did.

But Pepperidge Farm remembers when news reporters remembered to use the world "allegedly" in their headlines until after the trial was concluded.

I remember lots of over the top and ironic use of that term years after the Simpson trial, too, since nearly everyone thought he did it.

It's still really wild how Norm Macdonald was one of the few people who wasn't a cowering pussy about it...but probably lost his job at SNL over it.

[-] can@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

He definitely lost his job over it.

Hello, my name is Nick Reiner. You killed my father. Prepare to die...

Well, this is awkward.

[-] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 3 points 1 week ago

Would make more sense to be one of the other siblings saying that to him, wouldn't it?

Yeah, it didn't feel good to write either.

[-] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 1 week ago

Stabbed of old age…

[-] SereneSadie@quokk.au 8 points 1 week ago

Yeah, my first thought was the awful Gene Hackman situation. Spending a whole week starving while dementia prevents getting any help at all.

[-] CircaV@lemmy.ca 44 points 1 week ago

Their son Nick is in custody for the crimes. RIP Rob Reiner and Michelle Reiner. Reiner brought so much hilarity and joy.

[-] MerrySkeptic@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago

Reports now coming in that it was their son, Nick. Tragic

[-] Maiq@piefed.social 23 points 1 week ago

Stabbed? That's fucked up!

[-] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

De-Googled link.

I had no idea that was his mom in "When Harry..."

[-] arsCynic@piefed.social 16 points 1 week ago

“In June 2021, Reiner said that he was working on a 10- to 13-episode TV project covering the relationship between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. The project, he said, would cover the leaders' childhoods up until the point where their lives cross.” ―https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Reiner#Political_views

Hmm 🧐.

[-] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 11 points 1 week ago

Yay, more conspiracy theories - like we didn't have more than enough already.

[-] arsCynic@piefed.social 7 points 1 week ago

Suspect hypothesis, not conspiracy theory. Especially in the USA it's not far fetched at all.

[-] andallthat@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah, they didn't even kiss until season 2!

[-] Manjushri@piefed.social -1 points 1 week ago

Clearly a conspiracy theory because no one in the USA is ever killed because of their political activism.

[-] dogslayeggs@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Or killed because they had a son who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, has been in and out of rehab since 17 years old, and has been homeless multiple times.

[-] nocturne@piefed.social 16 points 1 week ago

Got an actual link to a story and not Google?

[-] msfroh@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Spinal Tap II just came to HBO on Friday. Rob Reiner was amazing in that.

[-] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

People has some helpful links at the bottom of their story. No, People, I don't like this, I don't want to read this:

[-] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Man, I remember when he played Archie's son-in-law Meathead, married to Archie's hot daughter, Gloria. And in real life his dad was Carl Reiner, another amazing genius.

I genuinely expected Rob to live to 98, just like his old man did. This is horrible. RIP.

Maybe he's only mostly dead?

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

I had seen that Spinal Tap 2 just hit the digital format on the 12th. I wonder if that is at all related, assuming his son did it...
