Yeah. It was maybe funny the first time, it certainly wasn't funny any more the 367392th time, and by now, it's just a stupid thing to say IMHO.
Just the other day I read a news article about a revision process here, where a guy with more neo-nazi dog whistles than SiegfriedsGermanShepardShop88.com shot an asylum seeker in the head, cut his body apart, wrapped the pieces in barbed wire and dumped them in the river... and only got <7 years for manslaughter, since the first judge found that the guy may be racist, but the target had light skin, therefore it couldn't have been a racially motivated murder.
...yeah.
I don't think you can get manslaughter for literally shooting someone.
Sure you can, if you get the right mix of "not my job" and (presumably) racism in the judiciary system.
