I will go first.

I hate how so many people act like every kind of art or media is now derivative because someone else out of billions of people and thousands of years had a somewhat similar idea.

I hate how everyone thinks they are a subject matter expert in everything because they have Google/AI. It's particularly annoying when you're arguing with someone about something you are literally an expert in.

Art is derivative because it is derived from your life experiences

People who don't know how to use a manual transmission.

[-] mlg@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Hey to be fair I know several people who do know, but so poorly that they'll still be defnitley grinding your gears lol.

Very deep and sub bass. Both travel through the ground more than the air, so not only does it go far and wide, it's also very hard to block. I can use earplugs for most loud music, but even a combo of earplugs, gun mufflers, and a white noise machine is just rendered ineffective against deep/sub bass. On top of being extremely annoying, it's also not really good for your health.

Drivers who don't stop for pedestrians - especially the ones who pretend to not see you as if it means they don't have to stop at the stop sign.

And people who don't clean up after their dogs. It's worse in the winter time when it's already difficult enough to navigate the city.

Captcha that insist motor scooters are motorcycles.

What are the Honda Dax 125 or the BMW Gold Wing w/DCT then?

I think this pedantry is rooted in fragile masculinity.

Also, kilts are skirts.

People who don't care to learn, but want to have an opinion. Doesn't matter the topic, sports, movies, business, politics, science, every asshole wants you to listen to their half-brained, malformed thought prions, and then insist that it's disrespectful to point out flaws in their "reasoning." I don't mind people being disengaged. It's a big world, and nobody is an expert in everything. But respect is earned, and being an expert entitles you to an opinion. Everyone else should shut the fuck up.

No Investigation, No Right to Speak

Unless you have investigated a problem, you will be deprived of the right to speak on it. Isn't that too harsh? Not in the least. When you have not probed into a problem, into the present facts and its past history, and know nothing of its essentials, whatever you say about it will undoubtedly be nonsense. Talking nonsense solves no problems, as everyone knows, so why is it unjust to deprive you of the right to speak? Quite a few comrades always keep their eyes shut and talk nonsense, and for a Communist that is disgraceful. How can a Communist keep his eyes shut and talk nonsense?

It won' t do!

It won't do!

You must investigate!

You must not talk nonsense!

People who modify their cars to be obnoxiously loud. Makes me wish they'd get sand in their engines and grind their gears down.

Motorbikes here.

I have a neighbor right now that has an obnoxious exhaust on his ridiculous looking lifted truck. For some inexplicable reason he goes out almost every night at midnight and redlines the fucking motor for a minute or so. On New Years Eve he redlined the damned thing for over 5 minutes straight. It kept hitting the rev limiter and cutting off then turning back on. I was praying the thing would blow up. It's so damned obnoxious. I don't know what he's compensating for, but stop taking it out on the environment and sleeping children.

[-] Asafum@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago

I used to live behind a gas station in a town where people loved to drive those cars...

I wish hell was real because there would be a special place there for the types of assholes that would roll up at two fucking AM with their subwoofers BLASTING shaking my windows and their stupid-ass exhaust trying to make their shitbox sound special.

The lack of accountability all the way down the chain. I'm not talking about the elites. I'm not talking about organizations and going after the low man on the totem pole. I'm talking about everyday interactions that should lead to consequences not having consequences.

[-] iamericandre@lemmy.world -4 points 14 hours ago

Nah if that spot is open I’m taking it

Wth? Why on earth? What's wrong with you?

[-] the_abecedarian@piefed.social 10 points 21 hours ago

people who focus on trump's rudeness and lack of dignity instead of actual policy that affects people's lives

[-] tacocollector2@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 23 hours ago

People who don’t know how to admit they’re wrong. I have opinions about literally everything, but I am always open to learning more about any topic and changing my opinion.

[-] Atropos@lemmy.world 14 points 23 hours ago

People parking in the bike lane be cause they are too entitled to find a proper space.

[-] disregardable@lemmy.zip 8 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

for me the issue isn't that the ideas are similar, the issue is from a lack of depth. when you boil every character down to the bare-bones of fulfilling their function in the story, with no other humanity to them, then every film with a similar plot will feel the same.
