Because "pantanal" means "from the swamp" or a specific kind of marshy terrain in at least Portuguese and probably also Spanish, and these cats are probably native to swampy areas in South America (possibly even the Pantanal area in Brazil)?!
That’s because swamp-ass cat was rejected.
Because thats the name of the region where you live
For the same reason hoomans named the siamese cat
Edit: it took me that long to understand the joke. Now the pantanal will never be the same!
