Hello friends!

Hope it's okay to post here, let me know if elsewhere is better. Your instance participated in the two previous edition of Lemmyvision, and sent the winning song for the first one (I still listen to The Northern Boys once in a while). I'm glad to announce the third is now live. I'm once again promoting the event and inviting you to participate! Can't wait to see what you have in store!

Don't hesitate to check the main post announcement for all the details here : https://feddit.uk/post/46825367

TL;DR

  • From right now and until May 3rd, discuss with your Lemmy instance or community about which song to send to the contest.
  • Submit the song in the Lemmyvision community by making a new thread.
  • On May 4th, voting will begin. You will rank your favourite songs in a form. Any song not submitted by this date will not be featured.
  • On May 11th, results of everyone’s favourite songs will be published.
  • You can use !lemmyvision@jlai.lu for any question, this will be the community for updates and results, make sure to subscribe if you’d like to stay in the loop.

I guess we can't send look mum no computer?

Oh damn, is it time for the good April tradition. For our submission(s)* I think I'll say we do what we've done previously and say people should comment on this thread and the most upvoted response will be our submission.

* As per the rules, we're allowed to submit songs from different regional languages, so if anyone knows any Welsh, Gaelic or other minority language songs feel free to shout them out.

Hope it’s okay to post here, let me know if elsewhere is better.

I'll let the mods weigh in on that.

Worth pinning this for visibility, assuming the Casual UK mods are happy.

You've twisted my arm.

[-] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah this is a cool idea

[-] TIN@feddit.uk 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ooh it's exciting, my third Lemmyvision!

[-] addie@feddit.uk 7 points 2 weeks ago

I'd just like to post Northern Boys / Sexy Train to get everyone in the mood for Lemmyvision. Can't submit it again, got to give all the other Lemmys a chance of victory, at least.

Okay, starting off the hit parade with This Might Be It by British-Indian punk artist Hyphen, described as the man with the shortest shorts in punk.

It's always weird going through what I've listened to the past year looking specifically at the band's country of origin. I'm apparently Australian in music taste.

This is a good pick

In case, like me, you were wondering about Chloe:

Chloe Leanne Slater (born 2003) is an English singer-songwriter based in Manchester. Writing about social and political issues, she has been releasing music since 2023

Sucker was released on the Love Me Please EP on 04-Feb-2025

[-] TIN@feddit.uk 2 points 1 week ago

Just heard Chloe on Future Pop on Radio One!

[-] flamingos@feddit.uk 1 points 1 week ago

This is good, though I prefer this track of the EP: https://chloeslater.bandcamp.com/track/were-not-the-same

"Bump" if anyone else has tunes to recommend or would like to vote...

Not sure how else to drum up interest! Cake sale?

fete. tombola.

Maybe if the title was clearer that this was a nomination thread there'd be more engagement, because it does currently look like just an announcement post. !anime@ani.social and !canada@lemmy.ca did that and more people are joining in there.

@inlandempire@jlai.lu based on this suggestion above, can you change the title to "2025 UK Song Nominations for Lemmyvision 3"

Hopefully that will inspire some nominations and votes!

[-] inlandempire@jlai.lu 2 points 5 days ago

Oh yes of course!

[-] inlandempire@jlai.lu 1 points 1 week ago

I dont know if @Emperor@feddit.uk is around but they held the mantle of making new thread for it in past editions

[-] TIN@feddit.uk 1 points 1 week ago

Looks like they've been inactive for about 11 months, unfortunately
