Imagine a terrifying world where we are all ruled by monsters of every stripe. And not hot ones like werewolves, but instead decaying zombies and mummies who are both insensitive to, and actively benefit from the immense suffering they cause on a daily basis. The top echelon of society, filled with profit-seeking, bloodsucking vampires. And the worst of it is that they repeat on a daily basis that what they are doing is not only just, but there is no other possible way to do it.

Pretty spooky, right? What if I told you that this world... was our own?

Happy Halloween!

Friendly reminder: when commenting about a news event, especially something that just happened, please provide a source of some kind. While ideally this would be on nitter or archived, any source is preferable to none at all given.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is Lebanon! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants. More detail here.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

I'm unsubbing from Bernie's emails. His latest resistance to occupation = terrorism and both-sides liberalism "humanitarian pause" pandering two state bullshit is the last straw.

How are they goihg to split the baby Bernie? You think the fascist fanatics that rule Israel will give Palestinians a fair deal, give them their land back? You think they'll drop the settlements and the blockades and go home?

People in office need to understand these are the natives fighting back against their oppressors.

500,000 trapped in ‘siege within a siege’ in north Gaza: Oxfam

The charity organisation has said it gravely concerned for about 500,000 Palestinians – as well as the over 200 Israeli and other national Hamas-held captives – currently trapped in a “siege within a siege” in northern Gaza.

The organisation said Israeli forces have a “near-complete stranglehold on Gaza City and the northern region, effectively cutting the enclave in half from the border wall to the sea”.

“We are sharing resources with ten other families. The markets almost empty. There’s no fresh food across all the city. We depend on canned food. The bread markets have no electricity and only a limited amount of fuel – one day, two days, five days – we don’t know,” Oxfam humanitarian worker Alhasan Swairjo via a voice-note from Gaza City, according to Oxfam.

“We are making bread at home but don’t know in next few days if we will have enough cooking gas. Our children are suffering, they don’t understand why we moved, why Israel is shooting us. We cannot give a good explanation why all this is happening. Now we’re fighting to survive, our children are fighting to survive,” Swairjo said.

Chileans are marching though Santiago for Palestine. One chant calls on the Gabriel Boric government to ‘break relations with Israel’.

'A romper, a romper, relación con Israel!'

Chile, Colombia and Honduras have recalled their respective ambassadors in Israel as a means of protest but still maintain relations with Israel. Bolivia is the only country to officially sever relations in the last month. Bolivia have broke relations with Israel.

Palestinian telecoms company says ‘all communications and Internet services’ with Gaza cut off

Paltel said there is a “complete interruption” of the services with the Gaza Strip. It said the interruption was caused by “international routes that were previously reconnected being cut off again”. We’ll bring you more updates as soon as we get more information.

A couple tweets by Yanis Varoufakis

Future generations will censure us for letting this happen. The death count has surpassed 10 thousand, mostly children and women. There is not even enough water to wash the wounds of survivors, let alone food, drugs etc. How can anyone sleep at night?

"IDF says it carried out airstrike on Gaza ambulance". Can there be a stronger invitation to the International Criminal Court to charge them with war crimes? [Even if the ambulance was carrying a Hamas overlord, bombing it violates the Geneva Convention.]

The editorial board of the Financial Times has officially come out in favour of a ceasefire. It also rightly criticises the Biden admin over their rejection of Palestinian death tolls.

Sorry, no Nitter link as non of the instances I use seem to be able to find it.

U.N. human rights lawyer resigns, criticizes the agency and calls the Israeli strikes in Gaza ‘genocide.’

The director of the New York office of the United Nations’ human rights agency has resigned, accusing the U.N. in a sharply worded letter of abandoning its own principles and international law, and of failing to stop Israel’s deadly bombardment of Gaza, which he called a “genocide.”

The former director, Craig Mokhiber, a human rights lawyer, wrote in the letter dated Oct. 28: “I write at a moment of great anguish for the world, including for many of our colleagues. Once again, we are seeing a genocide unfolding before our eyes, and the Organization that we serve appears powerless to stop it.”

In fact, [Edward] Said was Obama’s English professor at Columbia University. Obama attended many pro-Palestine events when he was younger, and he worked closely with many Palestinian organizers. He was supportive or at the least even-handed. That he capitulated to state interests… shame.

Benjamin Netanyahu: “Just as the United States would not agree to a ceasefire after the bombing of Pearl Harbor or after the terrorist attack of 9/11. Israel will not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas after the horrific attacks of October 7th. The Bible says that there is a time for peace and a time for war. This is a time for war.”

Anyone else get struck with the feeling that any time we spend doing things OTHER than talking about the Genocide in Gaza is a moral failing in a sense? Like an understandable one because we have human limits, but still like. Any time I as an American spend not opposing my country's complicity in it especially?
