It's not exactly efficient is it.

Now this is what I expected to see when I visited India. Do they keep the dancing Indian's in the special forces? Why didn't my tuktuk driver act like this?

[-] altphoto@lemmy.today 12 points 17 hours ago

Any nation attacked like this or defended against like this would just have to dissolve in shame.

[-] TheRiskiestBiscuit@reddthat.com 15 points 19 hours ago

They look funny doing that, but I wouldn’t fxxk with a single one of those dudes. Probably have thighs as solid as rock and could kick you straight into a coma.

[-] CPMSP@midwest.social 3 points 5 hours ago

I was just thinking that this is one of the ways you train for martial arts - it's all endurance and fast twitch muscles. You extend your leg and it's a kick. These folks can probably kick an opponent in the head. Repeatedly and quickly.

It's an absolutely ridiculous core exercise. This is peak conditioning.

[-] prenatal_confusion@feddit.org 1 points 6 hours ago

TIL about coma thighs.

Bollywood films are real and everything in India does involve some kind of dance!

Ministry of silly walks

[-] AnAverageSnoot@lemmy.ca 45 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This is a demonstration for the public and TV on Republic Day at the national parade. It's mostly performative and is meant to be exaggerated and over the top because that's what's expected at this parade. Millions of families wake up early morning on Jan 26th every year to watch these performances. They even have performances from school children from different cultures in India, an air show, giant missiles, etc.

[-] Landless2029@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

That's exactly what I thought when I saw this. Exhibition performance.

Also doing those movements would be a hell of a workout.

"On second thought, let's not call an Indian artillery strike. It is a silly process."

Ministry of Silly Military Tactics

[-] redlemace@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Needs some work, I'm sure the ministry will reject the claim for it being to simple and straight forward.

Where do you think they got the idea.

[-] carrylex@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

What the fuck did i just watch

Anyway have an upvote

[-] solidheron@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

What your girl means when she says she's "hanging" with the girls

[-] altphoto@lemmy.today 31 points 1 day ago

And now for something completely different.

[-] whaleross@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

This reminds me of the border ceremony between India and Pakistan that is an awesome display of militaries upping each other in silly walks.

Honest question to Indian and Pakistani lemmings:

Does this look cool in its own cultural context?

[-] rosco385@lemmy.wtf 1 points 6 hours ago

Much cooler than the US military who just throw their rifles around, and the UK who stamp a lot and have big hats.

[-] whaleross@lemmy.world 1 points 11 minutes ago

I don't care much for military parades but I'd rather watch the Indian/Pakistani one than any old regular western style. Both are kinda ridiculous but at least these are funny to watch with their "oh yeah!? well I can kick THIS high!"

[-] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 3 points 21 hours ago

I'm disappointed it didn't completely turn into a breakdancing contest halfway through

[-] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

I swear these get more and more elaborate with each one I see.

[-] Mothra@mander.xyz 14 points 1 day ago

Not a rehearsal for a Bollywood movie about war?

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 12 points 1 day ago

Be careful, their Group Dance move buffs the protagonist unit to absurd levels.

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They can’t help it, Bollywood has an AoE over the entire country.

[-] Vengefu1Tuna@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

When your general also loves musicals

[-] FUCKING_CUNO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 day ago

The hop into crouch is adorable

[-] helvetpuli@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 day ago

Is there some utility to all that?

[-] Photonic@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago

No, but there is some artillery

[-] realitista@lemmus.org 11 points 1 day ago

They're waiting for their applications to the Ministry of Silly Walks to come through.

[-] nagaram@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago

Don't you see how patriotic and serious they are? They did the very patriotic and very serious walk and everything!

[-] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago

Pageantry is always useful

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It's probably a joke they filmed for fun. You never know with the military but none of them are visibly considering killing their butterbar so it's probably the joke thing.

Slang for a 2nd lieutenant (lowest ranking officer in the army) because their insignia is a gold bar.

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

Military heads and their little ritual dances.

Wait, are commanders often autistic?
