These idiots have zero credibility and they've destroyed U.S. credibility around the world. I don't believe a word that they put out. They've been stringing along the American public with their claims of a peace deal being imminent, only to repeatedly fall through. They have no fucking clue what they're doing, and nothing will change until they are in prison. Until then, unfortunately the world will suffer the consequences.

These idiots have zero credibility and they've destroyed U.S. credibility around the world.

The last year and a half has convinced me it's on purpose. If I ask myself "What action would undermine and discredit the US the most in this moment?", their actions fit every time.

It's to trick the market from panicking. In any normal time, oil would be over 200 a barrel. But since "it'll be over tomorrow", everyone assumes the status quo of the last 50 years will prevail.

They do, and it’s all for show. It’s not their money and it’s far away. It’s great for keeping the pedo stuff off peoples mind - they can barely eat

Is Iran in the room right now?

[-] orbitz@lemmy.ca 5 points 7 hours ago

I'm not sure they'd ever been in the room, at any point close to US announcing their 'deals in progress', 'near complete deals' or when anyone in the US administration thought about Iran. Actually last one may be correct, they sent non us officials for the dealing like wtf? Keystone hockey, bunch of hosers.

I dunno where I caught on the keystone hockey bit, don't even watch it but apparently the junior league so it fits well. Though not even sure these dudes would hit a junior league in politics. May as well be the beer league.

Let's see if "Well I'm not interested in you anyways" works for nuclear geopolitics.

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 25 points 9 hours ago

This will be a 1000 times worse "deal" than the one Obama had struck and Trump backed out of. I guarantee it.

[-] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 16 points 8 hours ago

No matter what it is, it already is. The oil reserves won’t magically fill back up, that will take many many months to years, in which times crops and products and prices will get worse. The regime is more extreme because they killed the people who actually knew how to negotiate, and the son took over who was more extreme than his father, and is likely more extreme than he already was because he was injured and his family has been threatened. The people were liberalizing, they were rejecting religious extremism. Now thanks to this war the people of Iran are more nationalistic than ever, more supportive of the regime than they ever have been. No matter what they agree to, it will be worse off than before.

[-] yakko@feddit.uk 2 points 5 hours ago

Well also recently. a lot of people who were of a mind to protest Iran's government died.

[-] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 2 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Yeah, good point. The Trump admin literally told them to go march and do a coup, that we’d be there for them, and then no one went there for them, and they got slaughtered, further ensuring there were simply mathematically fewer people with the skills and willingness to replace the religious extremists with something more amenable to modern international relations with western and middle eastern nations and groups simultaneously. Instead they predictably, as in it was literally predicted by experts before Trump attacked them, they predictably attacked allies in the Middle East, closed and laid mines in the straight, which has disrupted the global economy and all relations abroad, including further damaging relations with China and Russia.

Such a dumb move.

[-] yakko@feddit.uk 1 points 5 hours ago

Feels weird to call it dumb when they keep making these massive mistakes that end up making them richer or less accountable.

[-] Sgt_choke_n_stroke@lemmy.world 12 points 9 hours ago

Iran has no reason to negotiate and the US only talks about peace when the stock market is open. Every fucking boomer investor following trumps lead should be fired

[-] tabarnaski@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 hours ago

Boomers have nothing to do with this. A lot of people profiting from this aren't boomers.

Making this a generational thing causes even more division, and division allows billionaires to stay in power.

Anyone else sick of blatant bullshit? Anyone else waiting for this administration to do something, anything that benefits the citizens? Healthcare? Housing affordability? Education investment? Energy infrastructure? Public works programs?Food safety? Fucking anything?

All we get is “two weeks”

[-] couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 hours ago

Sadly, the same could be said about the US

[-] stumu415@lemmy.zip 3 points 7 hours ago

The only way to have peace in west Asia is to let Iran have nukes.

[-] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago

Hahahahahahahaha

Wow.

[-] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

I wonder if those are mutually exclusive - the narrative from both sides (iran slightly more inconsistently, trump occasionally said while drooling...) has been that the nuclear deal will be negotiated separately from a peace plan for the war. IDK, this is all just such a shitshow.

[-] couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

Iran wants their immediate problems solved (blockade ended, Hezbollah let off the hook) with a promise of talking about that small nuke thingie later when they feel like it. Apparently the US isn't buying

[-] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 7 points 7 hours ago

Wow there's been an awfully unusual amount of Iran bashing on multiple social media sites today.

Must be going back to war if they're flooding the zone.

In case you're real: Last I checked Iran already had a deal to take care of that "small nuke thingie" not that long ago. Making them sound like the aggressor here is offensively inaccurate.
