I've always wondered what pets thought of kisses. "Oh God they're tasting me!!! Oh whew I guess I'm not ready to be consumed"
I often think the same when my cats lick me.
I'm 99% sure that exchange is a real concern. Opportunistic little bastards.
Be honest, you would also feel awkward being picked up and kissed by a weird smelling giant multiple times a day

That truly is my cat's biggest concern. She hates being held at all, but she does like being combed and petted as long as she happens to be in the mood for it.
Don’t minimize that concern! One of my cats loathes being kissed, but has no problem trying to lick my nose off my face.
