I'm playing the Talos Principle II. It started out really strong posing what I thought was an interesting & pertinent dilemma about degrowth/living in harmony with nature and expanding exponentially. Unfortunately past hour 5 or so the game really just starts fully leaning into the whole "anything other than exponential growth spreading the nuclear-powered light of consciousness to the universe is death, nature has no inherent value unless witnessed by a conscious entity" so whatever, I'm going along with the puzzles at this point because they're pretty good.
I wonder how much of this is related to your choices - I've definitely told all the other people in the game that I think growth should be checked, and at least I was able to convince the squad, but yeah that "nature has no inherent value unless witnessed by a conscious entity" thing was a bit silly IMO. I can't really put my finger on why, maybe it's just not expressing itself well. Took a break from it before the last 1/4 and will get back to it eventually...
edit: I actually really enjoyed talking with the characters about moral things in the game, but it seems that's dropped off a bit.
Been playing Dwarf Fortress lately. Trying to get some Serious Sam 3 going right now. Hoping the world does a big RETVRN to Zdaemon CTF.
The gaming situation is bleak right now. I've got tons of games, and there are tons more out there, but I'm not excited about anything.
GLOOOOOM WOOOOOOOOD, i really, really love this game, even though updates take years and it probably wont be finished any time soon, its still one of the best old school style shooters made in recent years and the aesthetic is so charming, its the perfect game to play on a snowy evening
Street fighter vi has consumed my life...I really need to diversify my game time. I still have elden ring to finish and the last of us.
Picked up Tears of the Kingdom again. Its fun but I think its just a bit too long, I was ready to wrap things up before I had even explored the last two regions. I guess playing Breath of the Wild not long before TOTK didn't help.
Also, Pokemon Showdown, as always. Been ploughing through the low ladder on random battles, and I've switched from VGC doubles to OU singles because there's not been enough VGC changes to keep my interested.
Also pirated the Sims 4 with all the DLC. Made myself, applied to college, got terrible grades somehow (I genuinely dont know what I did wrong) and then had to drop out because I was broke. So that got a bit too real
I played Baldur's Gate 1 and started playing 2 a few days ago. It took me some time to get used to how things work in the games (I have no experience with d&d so some things where quite hard to understand in the beginning), but I really love the games. The themes and story are great and I am really amazed at the amount of interactions that are possible and what kind things you are allowed to say. Like, you can criticize Baldurans colonialism in 1 in a random dialogue that is not really important for making progress in the game, for example. Or you can rescue the drow Viconia who is basically only prosecuted for her skin color in both games. Also class difference is a major theme in 2 and I like how it is even present in your own party. I'm also really looking forward to kill some slavers when I'm powerful enough.
