there is no such thing as a fair wage, because wage labor is in and of itself an exploitative condition
also the only reason Ghana farms Cocoa beans for imperial core consumers instead of growing their own food is because the US-backed IMF structural adjustment programs imposed on Ghana forces them to grow export crops and import essential foods from imperial core growers. It also forces privatization and anti-union laws. Also the IMF loans forced upon them are denominated in US dollars so they can only pay them back by earning US dollars, which is why they have to grow export crops demanded by US consumers instead of growing their own essentials that would allow them more economic independence.
The entire game is rigged against them. Consider this:
