The survey, conducted THIS WEEK by Harvard-Harris polling, found 51% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 said they believed the long-term answer to the Israel-Palestinian conflict was for “Israel to be ended and given to Hamas and the Palestinians.”

Only 32% said they believed in a two-state solution, and just 17% said other Arab states should be asked to absorb Palestinian populations.

Yeah , I'm not surprised. If you're constantly online the way an 18-24 year old is, then for the past few months you've been exposed to thousands of images and videos of very relatable kids, teens and twenty somethings being put through unimaginable horror.

There's probably going to be some kind of crackdown on the internet soon. The US can't support a genocidal colonial project if the victims can livestream their suffering to the world.

As soon as Chinese firewall goes down due to them having cultural dominance, American firewall goes up the next day

There's a lot of youthful cringe, but then there's stuff like this that gives me big hope for the future

I’m like 40. It’s hard to emphasize to younger people just how bleak the position of “the left” was when I was in high school. Michael Moore was the furthest left person in the public eye and he was regularly excoriated by everyone (which is why, even though he’s a lib I have a soft spot for him). The “best” position kids had at the time that I can remember was “hey, maybe gay people should have the same rights as everyone else”.

The worst of it was just how uninterested kids in my day were with the wider world. Apolitical was the default. No one gave a shit. Giving a shit got you branded as a weirdo. When I see videos like the those kids in SF chanting “from the river to the sea” and the other students cheering them on, I go full bloomer. The kids are definitely alright.

I have managed to find people your age who are "leftists" who try to do apologetics for NATO intervention of Libya

This is the poll, I was certain it was just going to say "to Palestinians" and not "to Hamas" but I was wrong.

Even when the question is incredibly leading like that, they still can't even get the results they want.

[-] Greenleaf@hexbear.net 24 points 11 months ago

It’s the Post, I think they did actually get the result they wanted: scare the olds.

[-] mar_k@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago

True but the actual poll is through Harvard-Harris

[-] Greenleaf@hexbear.net 1 points 11 months ago

Good point.

[-] regul@hexbear.net 56 points 11 months ago

They stacked the deck and they still lost lmao.

"just 17% endorsed the sensible option of outright ethnic cleansing" -the New York Post

[-] Melonius@hexbear.net 43 points 11 months ago

I'll take any positive news that the propaganda machine is failing.

[-] AlicePraxis@hexbear.net 39 points 11 months ago

of course they frame it as Israel vs Hamas and not Palestine. never mind the fact that Hamas is only in power because of Israel's occupation

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 27 points 11 months ago

Yep, turn it around on them by referring to it as the Palestine-IDF War

[-] Dickey_Butts@hexbear.net 36 points 11 months ago

They wouldn't be cracking down on University protests if they weren't scared about the youngins.

[-] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 27 points 11 months ago

Bad take from the Zoomers.

Israel should be ended and given to the DFLP/PFLP.

[-] dannoffs@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago

Hamas sucks, but of the three options its the best because its the only that includes giving Palestine back to the Palestinians. I personally don't believe Hamas would ever be able to actually govern Palestine and would collapse almost immediately if put in charge and a more secular party would take over.

[-] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 15 points 11 months ago

It's half joking. Both DFLP and PFLP call for critical support for Hamas at the current time.

[-] blobjim@hexbear.net 13 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

downbear

Also Hamas literally governed Gaza.

[-] oregoncom@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago

PFLP

Zoomers don't really know about the PFLP since most of the stuff they did that made them known in the west happened 30 years before most of us were born.

[-] GhostSpider@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago

I'm a millennial and didn't know about them until a Marxist youtuber I watch made a video on Palestine a month or two ago.

Every question in the poll is sooooooooooo insanely slanted. The wording I guess is basically from the NY Post directly or the pollster is even more of a hack organization than most (link to questions from MF_COOM In this thread).

In fact the entire poll is such BS, and basically ever response sucks, that I would disregard this whole thing.

I mean look at this

It's just a perfect example of how completely fake polls are.

Let's all give a Christmas gift to the CEO of Hamas this year, comrades

[-] chemicalwonka@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 11 months ago

Let's make a small correction to the title of the article: "Zionist State" to be ended and given to Palestinians"

First time that I agree with Gen Z's.

As a gen z I can confirm this is probably way too optimistic. Just this friday I heard someone making racist jokes about China (also unironically said 'east turkistan' terrorism good when against yellow people I guess)

[-] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

Wait, now I have to be "young at heart" all of sudden?
