I’m shocked to hear that they give a rat’s ass about what happens after they drive-by toss my smashed package at my neighbor’s front yard.
UPS drivers tend to treat packages sent to me at home and at jobs where I've worked decently. And I'm guessing now that drivers are paid a lot more, they will treat them with even more care.
Now Amazon drivers, they don't give a fuck. And I can't say I blame them.
The quality of the major shipping carriers, at least in a relative sense, seems to be highly regional. In some places, UPS seems to be best. In others FedEx, and for instance in my area, it's USPS (with caveats).
Around here, UPS is the worst of them and whenever I see something is being delivered via UPS, I try to prepare myself for disappointment. They deliver around here late at night instead of during the day like all the others (literally). They lose packages more than all the others and they outright lie about delivery status, marking things as "delivered at front door" when they obviously didn't. Plus, if something's going to arrive in mangled condition, it's most often because it was delivered UPS -- definitely have more issues with that than all the other carriers combined.
Some of it I can overlook, but persistent issues with lying about delivery status (and then delivering things days later) is inexcusable for me.
Granted, the others are far from perfect, but man, UPS is in a different league of suck around here. Nice to hear they've got their shit together in some parts of the world, though.
USPS is always a class above the others in my experience. Good pay and good benefits equal employees who do a decent job.
USPS (and Amazon) are also decently accurate with their estimated delivery window. If USPS says it'll be delivered between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., I believe it.
When UPS makes a similar claim, my reaction is "UPS has never delivered a package to my door before 4:00 p.m. the entire time I've lived here so who do they think they're fooling?"

UPS has by far been the best of the delivery services for me. A year or two ago we had 4 packages stolen because the FedEx knucklehead put a package up on the doorstep in a very visible position that drew a thief onto our step. The FedEx box and 2 UPS packages hidden in a bush were taken as a result.
A few days later UPS came to deliver a soundbar that he couldn't hide in front of the house. He waited for me to get on the doorbell camera and I opened my garage for him. He brought in all the other packages from that day too. Top tier service.
My company switched from UPS to FedEx in 2020. We get a stupidly good rate on shipping, but in exchange they sometimes leave packages worth several thousand dollars behind our office after hours. Was never a problem when we had UPS.
UPS in my location has been great. FedEx usually smashes something or refuses to drop it off and make me go to a pickup location about 10 minutes away. It's closer for me to just go to their office. I avoid FedEx when possible because I'd rather not risk a lost, broken, or misdelivered package I have to drive anyway to pick up.
Yeah here FedEx isn't really a delivery company, at least for residential addresses..
All they do is leave a note without knocking telling you to come get your shit. I'm 90% sure their delivery drivers never even had my package in their truck to begin with
this is not 'ai'.
it's a database lookup to check delivery issues and claims associated with an address or the neighborhood it's in, then informing merchants when they're prepping a shipment to a 'problem' address so they can suggest or recommend counter pick-up to their customer to ensure delivery.
