I don't like either. I used to use Sol Calendar but the app is out of the app store, and Sunrise Calendar, which got absorbed by Microsoft. I haven't found a good replacement and I'd love suggestions.

I really enjoy Proton calendar. They have a free tier with 3 calendars, but I use the lowest paid tier, and I absolutely love it. https://proton.me/pricing

Fellow Proton user here.

I recommend the Proton calendar for cross-platform syncing functionality, as well as the whole Proton ecosystem for privacy and ease of use.

Etar and Davx5. Both are on F-droid.

[-] Nabs@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Would love to see some recommendations with a shareable sync feature

[-] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yes me too.

I use Etar (it's on fdroid)

I agree, Etar is awesome and as a plus, it's open source.

It also shows the text of appointments in the 'month' overview which a lot of other apps don't do! It's the first app that could replace google calendar for me, for exactly that reason.

Simple Calendar Pro is pretty awesome

[-] blackstrat@lemmy.fwgx.uk 3 points 1 year ago

I've been using it for years and works a charm

[-] CletusVanDamme@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Any tutorials on getting it set up with Outlook on Android?

[-] nawordar@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I've been only using it with Nextcloud

[-] floppy@rabbitea.rs 8 points 1 year ago

I use ACalendar+. There's a free and a paid version.

[-] smorks@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

second for aCalendar+. been using the paid version for a few years now with a self hosted nextcloud instance. works great! works great with other calendars too (google, etc).

I'm trying this out. I downloaded all the suggestions and am going to play with them until I decide.

Another vote for etar. I also use Davx5 to sync over my own caldav server, but that isn't required.

Business Calendar has been my favorite for a while now. I haven't tried Business Calendar 2 yet but someone else mentioned it in this thread and loves it.

Glad no one mentioned Zimbra.

Has the fantastic UI of a 2000s Outlook, with the features of a 90s calendar.

If you can't read sarcasm, I'm saying it's functional but awful.

Proton calendar. It has a very nice interface and privacy respecting company behind it

[-] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This is my final decision. I'm just glad it has light mode because I hate dark mode calendars.

[-] NENathaniel@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

I’m testing it now, I noticed that there’s no search feature (in the android app anyway) Seems like a crazy omission

I've used Digical for awhile and like it. Paid version is $5, goes on sale for cheaper sometimes.

Seen good things about the Simple apps. Calendar has great reviews: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.komorebi.SimpleCalendar

Just to check, did you maybe mean the Simple suite of apps from Simple Mobile Tools?

They do have a calendar, but it's not the same one you linked, it's here. (Although just looking again and it's got some HORRIBLE recent reviews, so not sure what's up there!)

I've not used it, but I have used some of their other apps (including Gallery, which I still use) and they're pretty good.

Simple calendar Pro rules! Can be also synced via webcal.

[-] specseaweed@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

You're right. I got that wrong. I thought it was the same people. Good call.

[-] ninjaturtle@lemmy.ninja 3 points 1 year ago

I've been using simple calender pro. Been a pretty nice app, as it does the job I need it. Paired it with DavX5 and Nextcloud and it's just the same as Google calender.

[-] Mobiuthuselah@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I've used Business Calendar for a while. It has a ton of features. You have a lot of control in the layout and appearance and can connect to a variety of calendars and task apps.
