Isn't the PS5 also an AMD APU? Why would it be news that a 4 year newer chip is more powerful?

Nope, separate CPU and GPU.

What's really going to matter is heat transfer. The chips themselves are tiny, and the bulk of the space they take up is with cooling.

It sounds like combining them would be more efficient, but if it's the same or worse, it won't really result in much space saving.

It's likely we'll see it in the next generation of consoles tho.
