I just heard about this.

This is one of those pictures that would have been a famous moment in history, like the photo of a crying Vietnamese child during the Vietnam war

But the West has become so deranged that this is just another horror on the pile of recent horrors

The shot of a cop pointing a gun at him as he smolders on the ground in agony is probably gonna be it instead

[-] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 57 points 8 months ago

That entire context creates, probably, one of the best encapsulations of the US today for future historians.

You are surrounded. Cease exothermic rapid oxidation immediately or I will tactically engage.

In Tunisia one guy self-immolating kicked off a multi-country revolution. This is apparently the second time this happens and it just got ignored again (didn't even hear about the first one until today).

We have to start making excuses for the lack of terror.

A multi country western backed color revolution that got rid off Gaddafi

[-] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 17 points 8 months ago

The color revolution aspect might be more about how the CIA jumped at the chance to utilize popular and legitimate discontent with a bunch of governments rather than the CIA having any specific goal in mind when the protests kicked off. The royal family in Morocco has basically been CIA assets since the country was founded and even the king there got REALLY fucking frightened at the protests, to the point where you have seen a genuine increase in the standard of living for the average person due to government actions.

Why was it Gaddafi instead of mfing Momo 6+ pro max

Israel supporters declare US military personel to be their enemy. USS Liberty 2?

As much as I honor his sacrifice, I wish he had taken more of an adventure-time approach.

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 42 points 8 months ago

Yeah wtf did he have to kill the one troop willing to die for Palestine?

[-] GinAndJuche@hexbear.net 17 points 8 months ago

I'd usually say "let them fight" but let's be real this is going to blow back as chud antisemites shooting up synagoges of American Jews who probably aren't even Zionists.

[-] SteamedHamberder@hexbear.net 20 points 8 months ago

The Hebrew reads “the people Israel lives” which is sort of the equivalent of “It’s OK to be white” or “All Lives Matter” the way it’s been used for the past decade or so.
