Hosting my own with jellyfin has honestly changed my consumption of media.

Dimension 20 is a gem... also VIP!

[-] Manalith@midwest.social 19 points 8 months ago

Nebula.tv because there is an option for no monthly subscription at the moment

[-] SecretPancake@feddit.de -2 points 8 months ago

I tried it two times but the Apple TV app was always buggy as hell.

[-] Solemn@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 8 months ago

The Android TV app isn't great either. I just cast to the TV from the mobile app, which is still slightly buggy but generally works fine.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works -1 points 8 months ago

I mean... it seems like Apple is probably the problem here.

[-] SecretPancake@feddit.de 3 points 8 months ago

Why? Other apps get it right.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 0 points 8 months ago

Apple is pretty notorious for building hard to comply with arbitrary rules for their walled gardens. When it comes to the app store they won't tell you why an app was rejected even if you follow all published rules... there are other rules they just don't tell us about.

When it comes to developers Apple is a real shit-heel company.

[-] SecretPancake@feddit.de 1 points 8 months ago

That's 1. bullshit and 2. not an excuse to keep apps buggy.

Stremio +Torrentio + a Debrid service. Cheap, reliable, and has almost everything we've searched for.

My selfhosted jellyfin server

[-] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 8 points 8 months ago

YouTube premium.

I've got 8 subscriptions, the one I use most frequently is (outside of patreon for podcasts, and even then on a slow podcast week ala holidays) YouTube, probably more than all the others combined.

Task master, Qi, Richard osmands house of games, lcs, you suck at cooking, epicurious, binging with babish, 3 Mario Maker creators, 3 general video game streams, 3 video game speed running/charity streams, science communicators, language learning, and I haven't seen an ad in.... Shit... 8 years, (except when I YouTube on a work machine, or the two times I've gotten a new phone)

himovies.sx

But a note from the website:

We recommend you using a VPN to stay anonymous and to get better streaming speed.

Tubi has a better selection than Netflix imo

I've watched so many good movies on Tubi

Onhockey.tv

All the hockey.

[-] ShadowCatEXE@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I love onhockey because it has multiple leagues. However, on iOS devices the ads/popups are horrible to deal with (even with brave), so I'll use nhlbite.com when needed. I don't know of another site like onhockey that has all leagues.

There's also nhl66.ir that provides great quality streams, but you need a VPN to watch now. nhl66 also does not work on iOS anymore. Works fine on Android.

Overall, YouTube for sheer variety and quantity.

But among the traditional services probably Hulu.

[-] scytale@lemm.ee 3 points 8 months ago

I used to love Deezer. Better sound quality and user interface than spotify. Then they removed regional pricing and it went up 5x in my region.

[-] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 8 points 8 months ago
