The Atlantic Council, one of the most influential foreign policy think tanks in the US, advocates nuclear first use when US territories are not threatened.

fucking lmfao

As much as I hate it, I'm upvoting this just so people can finally get a grip about how fucking insane the AC really is.

Even weirder since China is one of the only two countries with a no-first-use nuclear policy (the other being India).

This is pretty much just inviting the mainland to nuke Taiwan (and the US?) by nuking them first.

If any nukes get used against China, all gloves come off. China's NFU policy is pretty clear on that.

New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington? All wiped off the map. That's the cost of a nuclear first strike against a conventionally-armed foe.

The US is treating Israel and Taiwan as though they are American territories. This is the natural consequence.

When one Kissinger falls, another rises to take its place

TLDR:

screenshot of paragraph from the article saying "Deterrence of Chinese conventional aggression against Taiwan requires more than conventional deterrence alone. It also requires intrawar deterrence of PRC limited nuclear escalation, and it may, under some circumstances, require a credible threat to use nuclear weapons first to counter Chinese conventional superiority." with "use nuclear weapons first" highlighted

same old Atlantic Council pushing for nuclear war again

Calling for a nuclear war in Taiwan against mainland China jfc.

They want to turn it into another Ukraine, or worse.

Great, thanks, all my existential crises were further out than 2027.

Now I really have something to look forward to in the near future.
