Sad, but not shocked seeing their views lately. At their height they were putting out lots of good stuff whether it was Let's Play, Achievement Hunter or what have you.

i only ever watched rooster teeth for rwby and i lost faith in that show after season 3 so i dont think i will miss it much, also i remember reading about the development hell that was gen:lock that was probably the start of the end

RIP the early seasons were awesome (didn’t age well though tbh in terms of problematic stuff)

God damn. Does this mean Rwby can finally get remade by someone competent?

Didnt they made an anime remake of rwby already? Rwby is one of the few shows that made money and was original from rooster teeth so if it gets remade it will probably be from the studio that made ice queendom

Fun fact, it was animated by Studio SHAFT, and wasn't their strongest show but I don't think they've had a great show in a while. Some of the original stuff was fun and they peppered in some Shaftisms, but it was just kind of ok when me and a friend watched it.

a statement

You can almost hear them seething under their breath about tiktok teens through the computer monitor.

Nah, I completely disagree. I've read through other interviews and I actually think think Levin is being pretty candid and on point about the fact that they're just another casualty of the massive shift all of the tech and tech adjacent media companies are going through due to current economic conditions. Rooster Teeth like everyone else in the online space was built on a growth model and now suddenly the switch got flipped and they actually have to turn a profit to keep existing.

The canary's in the coal mine have been warning us for a while...this is just the first deployment finally collapsing. We haven't seen the end of it either. This is gonna get a lot worse for online creators by the time the dust settles I think.
