Jonathan Blow was always fash and reactionary:

He spent 20 million dollars on his game but whines about how nobody is willing to make an alternative to Windows.

Gives zero reasons on why Linux is complex, "Give me a linux distro that I can work on" says linux is too hard and gives zero examples.

Incoherent argument that there exists secret organizations whose job is to insert bugs into different software projects by taking advantage of their git forges and making bad patches/pull requests.

Sorry lib, but have you heard of the The University of Minnesota being banned from the Linux kernel for doing the exact shit you describe and such things as continous-integration, merge reviews, basic fucking trust relationships and communication. He says this all while running Windows 10 agony-yehaw

hmmm, I wonder what type of person loves running their mouth on things they know nothing about but expect to be respected?

I knew he always sucked, but I didn't know his politics is trash as well. Or the fact that he doesn't and refuses to understand Linux.

Brade wasn't that good and the industry sucked him off for it. I'm not shocked he's a trash heap.

Every time people are being nostalgic about "early indies games" or somesuch, I get depressed. Like, that was supposed to be a revolution in video gaming, Mario with worse graphics and an extra gimmick?

Tbh I liked Meat Boy and Castle Crashers. Spelunky was pretty great too! Braid and the other “artsy” one from around that time- it had the shadow-y looking graphics, I can’t remember the name right now- were both extremely overrated (and not very good in this poster’s opinion)

Aquaria also ruled, and that game is now under GPL which is super cool.

"Give me a linux distro that I can work on" says linux is too hard and gives zero examples.

i would think he's joking if i didn't know he wasn't. can't imagine a programmer that would genuinely prefer working on windows over linux.

Spends all day making obtuse moon logic puzzles then complains that linux is too complicated because typing word into the start menu suggests libreoffice writer instead of microsoft word

anakin-padme-1 Why are corporations so averse to merit-based hiring?

He's talking about rich person nepotism, right? anakin-padme-2

anakin-padme-3

Right? anakin-padme-4

Multiple major game companies have been embroiled in controversy about how a clique of white guys who would spend all of their time bullying/harassing women, PoC, and LGBT employees who were doing the actual work, and how that clique ran around unopposed for years because they were favored by (or consisted of) the higher-ups.

And yet gamers will still cry about how the latter groups receive unfair favoritism from employers.

Boo, I was about to make that joke.

Anytime I bring up puzzle games some Gamer will talk about how deep The Witness is. I then explain that to me the game just feels like Jonathan Blow spitting in your face about how stupid you are and how smart he is. Because that is the game he wanted to make. He wanted to make a game that was fucking deep and insulted the person who played it for not understanding how deep it was.

[-] itappearsthat@hexbear.net 16 points 7 months ago

I didn't think it was particularly deep unless you really go for the Buddhist stuff but was fun, I did enjoy it

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 17 points 7 months ago

Once again, ConcernedApe is the one good dev

Rami Ismail seems like a really good guy too.

i have literally never seen a clip of him not sounding like an assholish snob. this isn't too far off of what i have expected. i even vaguely remember hearing him whine about fall of america and destruction of american work ethic although im not certain about it.

Never take your eye off coders for too long.

edit: As long as we're dunking on Blow - go download and play "The Looker" it is free on steam and only takes like 20 mins.
