ATF: you can't make alcohol or tobacco look like candy or market them for kids.

Also the ATF: turns a blind eye to bespoke gun maker who do things like make kits to make guns look like it's made out of legos

[-] tpihkal@lemmy.world 12 points 6 months ago

Idk, there are some awfully festive jello shots a my local booze store.

[-] quindraco@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago

You can absolutely make alcohol look like candy. When's the last time you ordered a cocktail?

[-] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

I had a cotton candy cocktail topped with actual cotton candy.

I know I'm meant to hate it because making guns look like toys is bad.. but it does look pretty great

[-] Dieinahole@kbin.social -3 points 6 months ago

This is one of those things.

Like yeah, i get it. It's honestly kinda cool.

But can you please FUCKING NOT.

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago

Don't know why you're being downvoted. I agree with you, sure, it looks cool, but why?

The chance for something bad to happen just increases with things like this. Accidental gun-related deaths are already a thing that happens too much.

[-] Outtatime@sh.itjust.works -2 points 6 months ago

I modded my vehicle to look like a giant hotdog. Maybe I should think twice before I contribute to the obesity epidemic. I can't help but feel partly responsible for causing people to over eat and kill themselves.

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago

Two very different things. Obviously cars kill many people every year, that's not the intended purpose, and making one look like a hotdog won't realistically increase the probability of a child seeing it, thinking it's a toy, and hurting themselves or someone else.

Guns are made to kill things, making an instrument of death look like a toy can definitely increase the probability of a bad outcome.

Hmmm. Red herring or strawman?

[-] Krafting@lemmy.world 12 points 6 months ago

Finally a worthy weapon to take down Nintendo's laywers.

accidentally grabs this instead of the real Zapper when playing Duck Hunt. Destroys TV. Dog laughs at you.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 9 points 6 months ago

That's not a safety hazard at all...

[-] TheControlled@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

I was about to roast this but realized I have stuff in my house that would likely be "worthy" of the same roasting from others.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Please tell us what it is so we can enjoy roasting you, or at least marvel at how cool your stuff is.

I wonder if this could be one of the .38 special diy sheet metal pistols, but with a 3d printed nintendo cover, it's probably a prop gun tho

EDIT: it's not completely diy, but just a glock with a "skin" like in cs:

[-] devnull406@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Definitely not 38 special, that's a straight wall cartridge you'd expect to see in a revolver. Also, it's hard to tell but this looks much bigger than say a Glock 42 that would be chambered in .38 caliber. My guess is this is a Glock 17 which is a 9mm, but it's really hard to tell from the picture.

Also this clearly isn't made of sheet metal.

[-] bi_tux@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

so, I mistook the caliber, I remembered .38 when it was actually .380 in the blue print of the diy sheet metal pistol. and you could do a similar customization. + I'm was tired and am stupid

EDIT: I'm refferencing the diy sheet metal pistol mk3

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

What ammo does this cannon use?

[-] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Looks like .45 but could be 9mm

[-] Coreidan@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Could be .40 too!

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

I want one. Maybe two.
