One thing we can all agree on, I hope, is that this technology must never, never be made accessible to the west (until imperialism as a world system is thoroughly defeated, decolonization within the imperial cores is under way, and capital is on its way out as well).

While it's just a step closer towards viable cryogenics, if such a possibility becomes available to the neocons, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say it may as well be all Joever (for the rest of humanity).

I think we're still safe on that for now. Not to downplay what i'm sure is an impressive scientific achievement, and admittedly i'm no expert on this subject, but usually these kinds of articles tend to get a little ahead of themselves with the scifi predictions, at least they do in my field. But i appreciate how optimistic the author is.

My thoughts exactly, cryogenics cant save you from a firing squad.

Undying capitalist ghouls, for one.

How? If you dont put the body on ice soon enough there is no amount of tech that can bring back a half rotten corpse. Also would having and unnaturally long lived ruling class just radicalize people more?

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Depends on how advanced the technology is.

[-] Ocommie63@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Well its not getting to that level in any of our lifetimes so we got nothin to worry about

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Not with that attitude it isn't.

[-] SadArtemis@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

The implied reasoning was supposed to be that they'd be even more likely than they already are now, to just nuke or otherwise exterminate the rest of humanity and be done with it.

China will be sending sleeper ships to Alpha Centauri to colonize new worlds before the US finishes demolishing the ruins of the Baltimore bridge.

If they manage to revive Joe Biden's brain - they'll have achieved peak science.

Stalin deserves to rest, he already saved the world once.

Bring Stalin back to life and give him a nice park view apartment near a pond he can enjoy. Also lots of books. He deserves an enjoyable retirement.

[-] Giyuu@lemmygrad.ml 26 points 1 year ago

Real...It's like doubly depressing when I think back how much sharper it used to be.

[-] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

When you get out and start talking to people and doing things again, you'll shake off the rust. I've gone through multiple periods of cognitive decline and recovery because of depression.

I know you mean well but that's why we do those things already. But yeah it's always sound advice to have a hobby to connect with others.

We will preserve it in pure psilocybin extract for good measure.
