Hilton, 43, accused the industry, which is worth billions of dollars, of being more interested in making money than protecting and caring for the vulnerable children it is responsible for.

At which point the Republicans present smiled, nodded, and made mental notes to check their investment portfolios.

“Vulnerable children you say? Ah… uh Ms. Hilton, you do know the presidential candidate for our party ran the miss teen USA pageant?

Oh yes he even bragged about how much he liked to walk into the girls dressing room and how they (us republicans now) just LET him do that cause he is famous you know…

Tell you what let me introduce you to my colleague Matt Gaetz he’s offered to help any of your younger friends still facing these terrible circumstances…”

If you haven't read this about the Troubled Teen Industry, you should.

I really wasn't aware of her working on this issue until I read that, but good for her for doing it. I'm glad she is able to do something good with her fame.

Yeah mad respect for Paris on this one. I think she recently became a mother herself too, makes sense she'd be passionate about it.

Troubled Teen Industry

aka Child Abuse Pipeline

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 38 points 4 months ago

It would be good for her parents to make an effort with her too but I've heard Kathy Hilton's a particular piece of shit. I can totes see why Paris had such a rough start

I have zero faith in a Republican-controlled Congress doing shit about child abuse because its all they know, hopefully the Dems rake the "ProLifestocks" over the coals about it and get this shameful bullshit criminalized like the conversion nonsense.

Hollywood ~~was~~ IS filled with sex pests.

I still remember boomers making jokes about casting couch in early 2000s...

Instead of seeing the crime, it was a meme to them.

Don't get me started on the Catholic church. These people literally enabled a generation of child abuse. They now act like they didn't know "it was like that" lol

At least now people are more likely to be dropped when they pull shit like that. James Franco, for stance, has not been in shit since he was found to be doing a casting couch. He has not been in any movies in five years.
