It uses “AI facial recognition software” to verify your identity and age lol. Mind you this is in a red state where guns are more sacred than Jesus and you can get anything you want without any of these rules online or at a local gun shop. Conservatives will likely knee jerk support this even though its purpose is to siphon your biometrics, track who’s buying ammo, and price gouge you. I don’t know if they sell brand name ammo or Bubba’s reloads that will explode in your face for 90 cents a round

Knowing Amerikkka that would be a feature, not a bug.

Or with recent trends, they would implement surge pricing whenever someone with an inch of melanin is detected

to the bourgeoisie that's a feature

Imagine shooting up a grocery store, but you run out of bullets and have to put a 20 in the vending machine

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 1 year ago

As a non-American, I'm surprised that this wasn't a thing already.

[-] FuckyWucky@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Can you shake it for free bullets?

[-] Storm@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

Oh sweet! Man-made horrors within my comprehension and price range!

[-] rando895@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 year ago

I always wondered where those vending machines in Borderlands came from.....

Welcome to the Circus of Value!

what is the purpose of this? when is this preferable to just going to any outdoors store or gun store and getting ammo? when do you conveniently need a box of ammo? i'm a gun owner and i genuinely don't understand the reasoning here.

[-] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

Eh if you're headed to the outdoor range and want to grab a bag of Doritos, a gallon of water and some ammo it saves a stop

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

Who isn't in a real hurry to buy spoiled milk, rotten eggs, and crappy ammo at incredibly high prices.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

I know bullets aren't extremely dangerous if they catch on fire, but somehow I think having a machine crammed with 50,000 bits of metal stuffed with gunpowder isn't going to be safer in case of a fire than not having said machine.

lol i am pretty sure whoever engineered this must've taken that into account but i hope not and we get to see a "machine vending shot customer" story soon.
