TBH, I feel like the Marvel hype has mostly died off at this point. A few years ago, pop culture was all about it and you couldn't avoid hearing about every new movie coming out. Now, I couldn't even tell you what the current Marvel movies are and nobody I know is talking about them. The biggest super hero franchise now seems to be "The Boys", which is pretty much a deconstruction of the whole idea of superheroes.

I'm watching S4 of the boys and it's absolutely incredible!

I also never saw a MCU movie... But read the comics in the 70s/80s

We went through a long phase of people being hyped about Marvel, followed by a phase of people shitting on Marvel...now I think we're entering a phase of "people who like it can still like it, people who don't like it can move on to something else."

It will be interesting to see what comes next in the monoclture now that Marvel doesn't have the same stranglehold on the box office as they used to. Most other studios seem to have already moved on from the "cinematic universe" model with a new tie-in blockbuster every 6 months forever...

Not really. I think Disney has figured out they are near saturation with Marvel and have to pull back somewhat on what they are releasing. Unless you are in a specific media space that lives on Marvel rumors for good or bad, Marvel isn't getting as much attention.

They're big CG, which means an inherent floor to the budget, which means a big advertising budget to make as many sales as possible.
