God damn I can't wait til Twatter finally fucking crumbles. STOP. USING. IT.

[-] ripcord@lemmy.world 23 points 3 months ago

But some musician I like only uses it so I have no choice or whatever bullshit

[-] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 151 points 3 months ago

It hurt Ewon’s feewings thiiiiiiiis much!

[-] ours@lemmy.world 47 points 3 months ago

So much for "Free speach absolutist". More like just wanting to give hate groups a voice.

[-] Stovetop@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago

Wouldn't expect anything less from someone who directly benefitted from Apartheid in South Africa.

[-] Liome@pawb.social 21 points 3 months ago

Yea, such a snowflake smh

[-] Nougat@fedia.io 13 points 3 months ago

Don't touch my monstah twuck

[-] GladiusB@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Let's be honest, it's probably not that big

[-] maegul@lemmy.ml 114 points 3 months ago

So from the outside, this is looking like an increasingly difficult situation for anyone left of trump still on twitter ... whatever you like about the platform ... it seems you're actively supporting and endorsing some pretty sketchy behaviour.

[-] paddirn@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago

It isn’t, “facts” or “reality” have never really bothered those people before.

[-] cabbage@piefed.social 25 points 3 months ago

He's referring to Twitter users in general. There are people who I genuinely think care about facts and reality still left on Twitter.

[-] whostosay@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

Well, they don't fuckin care too much do they

[-] cabbage@piefed.social 3 points 3 months ago

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing.

I like the take that if you're still on Twitter it doesn't mean you're a fascist; it just means fascism isn't a deal breaker for you.

[-] whostosay@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

If you're helping the nazi bar pay rent with your time and money, you're still a nazi, you just don't get as many perks.

[-] bss03@infosec.pub 7 points 3 months ago

I finally deactivated my account after I heard they were turning on Grok by default.

But, I hadn't tweeted (switched to Mastodon) since Elmu mass-banned journalists for retweeting public information (jet location when near an airport).

I know some non-fascists are still getting good use out of it, but I can't participate anymore. I keep hearing that Mastodon is letting too much abuse through to marginalized people -- even more than Twitter -- though. So, I don't know what to recommend for microblogging.

Yea it’s a bit tough ATM. Straddling between masto and BlueSky might make sense (many are doing it it seems).

Love this good little bot!!

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago

But the FREEZED PEACH. And the MARKETPLACE OF IDEAS.

Are we saying that weird Elon doesn't actually support these things?

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 15 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

why are we using/caring about it again?

[-] todd_bonzalez@lemm.ee 60 points 3 months ago

Because the richest guy on the planet bought one of the most popular social networks, now runs it as a massive right-wing propaganda machine, and ignoring it isn't going to make it go away or stop mattering.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

so why is 'white dude for harris' not on mastodon, instagram, bluesky or whatever the alternative is instead?

twitter, as you say yourself is not a useable source of information or platform for people not on the nazi part of the political spectrum.

its not like a public space we can take over. musk has all the control over who even gets seen.

[-] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 3 months ago

Likely because those are vastly under populated compared to Xitter. When running promo, you have to go where the people are sadly. It's harder to make people come to you.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 months ago

does it matter if they get banned anyway?

[-] todd_bonzalez@lemm.ee 10 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Because it's an election and X has hundreds of millions of monthly active users. It would be irresponsible not to campaign where there are people.

Again, ignoring the existence of X won't make X go away or stop mattering.

its not like a public space we can take over. musk has all the control over who even gets seen.

Yeah, and when he uses that power to manipulate the gigantic captive audience he bought, we should call him out on it.

[-] GBU_28@lemm.ee 9 points 3 months ago

Because those are unfortunately fringe tech, with Fringe user numbers (relatively speaking)

[-] bss03@infosec.pub 4 points 3 months ago

I thought it was founded on Mastodon. At least that's where I heard about it, 5 days or so before the fundraising call on Monday.

[-] YeetPics@mander.xyz -1 points 3 months ago

Ignoring hyper-spoiled man-children and their fancy toys is EXACTLY how you deal with those types...

Also, by ignoring it you cut out any ad revenue you would otherwise be generating for them.

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 3 months ago

Lonnie is a little child in a soft man's body. If only he'd go the fuck away.

[-] jve@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago
[-] sparkle@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago

Twitter. Or, Twitter is its deadname. I think it's ironic since Musk deadnames trans people intentionally because he's a mega-transphobe. X will never be anything other than "Twitter".
