How do ants survive in frigid northern regions? Do ants survive the winter or is it spring egg hatching?
Underground.
Frost line depths vary, but they’re typically not more than a few feet deep. Ants just dig deeper then rely on stored food.
And they usually spend their time moving slowly to conserve energy and wrap themselves in blankets and sit around tiny campfires and tell stories that have been passed down for generations.
Tell us about Uncle Antie again! How he saved the tiny oatmeal creme pie children from the scorpion attack!
missed opportunity for auntie antie
Antie was a boy in the movie
that doesn't make it any less of a missed opportunity
Ants are active all year long in the tropics; however, in cooler regions, they survive the winter in a state of dormancy known as hibernation. The forms of inactivity are varied and some temperate species have larvae going into the inactive state (diapause), while in others, the adults alone pass the winter in a state of reduced activity.[71]
Can we research the differences between queen and worker ants to learn how to increase life expectancy?
