I read the headline and thought, haha very funny Melina, this is high quality /c/fakenews.

[-] envis10n@lemm.ee 34 points 2 years ago

I genuinely thought it was The Onion at first. Reality is really gunning for their niche market

[-] booty@hexbear.net 26 points 2 years ago

i was living in bliss having forgotten that user ever existed, why did you have to remind me

[-] adultswim_antifa@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago

Sorry, it is much funnier when you're not expecting it.

[-] combat_brandonism@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

There's a Beetlejuice musical? Theatres desperately trying to hook the young crowds by doing everything but making something original and good.

[-] dannoffs@lemmy.sdf.org 38 points 2 years ago

desperately trying to hook the young crowds

I hate to be the one to break it to you but Beetlejuice came out 35 years ago

[-] davi@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

what are you talking about?! 35 years ago was 1975 /s

[-] TerminalEncounter@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

It's for older millennials but Im not really a fan of the trend of taking older movies and releasing them on Broadway (legally blonde, back to the future, mean girls, etc), at least they're willing to change a bunch of stuff for it. The Beetlejuice musical has some catchy songs but it's a totally different story so it's not completely bankrupt culturally yet I guess

[-] ped_xing@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

Rocky. There's a Rocky fucking musical. How do they make that work?

[-] Abraxiel@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

Oh, that Rocky

[-] hotwarioinyourarea@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

It's just all training montages and tap dancing. I assume..

[-] OgdenTO@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

I mean, the horror version was pretty good

[-] PM_ME_YOUR_FOUCAULTS@hexbear.net 29 points 2 years ago

Critical support for ruining a bunch of people's experience of watching a Beetlejuice musical

[-] autismdragon@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

Wtf let her live? Everyone's a hater.

[-] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago

God forbid women do anything

🙄

[-] Luminocta@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Why? She doesn't "let other people live" either if it's up to her..

[-] autismdragon@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago
[-] Luminocta@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

You got me. Tbf nowadays it's hard to tell

[-] autismdragon@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

Yeah I feel you but to be clear anyone from hexbear is going to think that she's a horrible bigoted monster of a person. Its just part of our humor to ironically stan her and MTG because they're so obviously monstrous that it seems kinda pointless to constantly talk about how bad they are and instead it just seems funnier to ironically stan them when they do something kinda funny and absurd like this.

[-] UnicodeHamSic@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

I feel like some shows are supposed to be chaotic and a Beetlejuice show is one of hem. Like, if someone doesn't get drunk and into a fight does it really have Beetlejuice energy?

[-] Tofu_Lewis@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago

Oh, so you're saying I CAN fix her

[-] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago
[-] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

yeah i like her a little bit more now

[-] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

Ooooh mental break incoming!

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

But she takes her gun (guns?) everywhere.

Do you know who I am? I'll be contacting the mayor!!!

[-] shiteyes2@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

The beetlejuice musical sounds like it sucks but whatever excuse to toss her in the pit works

[-] newmou@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

It’s actually really damn good

[-] XTornado@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

It's the one with the scene with a girl selling cookies mentioning they cannot go inside due to pedophiles that it has been shared in social networks a long time ago or is now a different one?

[-] DayOfDoom@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

Would you go see the Beetlejuice musical with Boebert? She said she'll pick up 7 in her 2004 Chrysler Pacifica that she converted to run on natural gas and she has lots of treats to snack on in the theater stored in her trenchcoat.

yes!!! beetle juice is very good! the actors are sooo talented, its so hard to sing in the beetlejuice voice without messing op your throat. heres a link to an illegal recording someone filmed on their phone, if you want to check it out, its not the best I will say sadly there are no Boberts there for additional entertainment. also what a rookie getting caught for recording and vaping, pros like me take an edible and film with their phone in their shirt pocket.

Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
